Looks like all NHL teams are now putting advertisements in the corners. We all know money talks, but who else absolutely hates the look of it?

I don't mind if it's just a couple of ads. I just don't want to see this:

    Who cares?

It amuses me when people complain about ads on the boards. They aren't on jerseys and have absolutely no impact on the game.

I think he's referring to ads on the ice, not the boards. I'm not a fan of them but whatever, it's 2018 and it's only going to get worse from here. Money talks.

Yep, some teams don't want the type of ice multiple championships have been won on ;)

(I know it looks hideous, just like the jerseys, there are actual led screen ads on the ice too..)

This is still driving me nuts seeing this. I can't be the only one, right?

Right, the ones that are now on the ice in the trapezoids.

If it keeps them off the jerseys I'd take an ad on the coach's forehead.

I really hope they don’t put ads on the jerseys.

One advertisement directly behind the net wouldn't be terrible IMO. It just looks like an AHL rink now.

They will keep adding advertisements until the day the league folds.

    Enjoy the ride.

Because we know that will never happen.

The league will continue to toe the line and utilize means of revenue until there are no more means of revenue left to tap from. The jerseys aren't necessarily safe. Just likely one of the last things to be monetized by advertisements.

How many people complaining about ads are season ticket holders? If you are, then I have a question for you... would you rather pay more for your tickets?

If you never pay to go to games... your opposing opinion, regarding advertising, doesn’t mean ****.

I highly doubt ads on the ice and boards help keep season ticket prices down.

It's really, really ugly. And the creep will never go backwards, it will keep working its way across the ice until there's nothing but ads up and down the rink. Same with jerseys. Nothing, literally nothing is sacred to these people. Our grandkids will wonder why we're triggered by the presentation of the GooglZon Stanley Cup presented by Coca-Pepsi.

Season ticket holder here. No prices went down when they added these ads.

... but they would have gone up more is these ad revenues would not be generated.... or do you think the NHL (owners) would reduce their profit margins?

Then you are naive. Every dollar of revenue generated by advertising affects the net profits. The NHL (and the NHLPA indirectly) will not give up the revenues to reduce their profits/salaries... so if they’re not gaining those revenues from advertising (and TV revenues, again indirectly via advertising) then where else are the revenues coming from?

I guess they could reduce their expenses... like charitable donations. So, I guess they could remove those ads and stop donating to charities. If you think it’s coming out of the owners and players pockets you are going to be disappointed.
