so is this another b roster? if so, invite another country next year.

Its basically most the 1989 born team with a few notable omissions such as Cherepanov and the Bashkirovs.

I wish the dub would still have an all-star game instead of just the Canada/Russia challenge. Russia isn't sending their best prospects so they CHL has really good odds to sweep again.

Too bad they wouldn't make a team of QMJHL all stars, a team of OHL all stars & a team of WHL all stars and have them play all star teams from the NCAA. One of the arguments in hockey over the years is which league is better, NCAA or CHL, so why not have them play each other as an all star game.

Isn't sending their best prospects?????:sarcasm: How did you come to that point?
Averin, Korostin, Bakika, Karamnov, Schetinkin are one of the best prospects of '89 borns in Russia. I heard that the Bashkirovs would join the team in NA.

I think Cherepanov's absence alone makes this team far from the optimal collection 1989 prospects. The inclusion of the coach's son Denis Fakhrutdinov who is younger than everyone else is another step from competitveness. Also, as you yourself suggested, Dovlatyan's inclusion is primarily due to his father's financial sponsorship of the team. Quite frankly I am also not firmiliar with a few names on this roster - leading me to even further question whether this the optimal team of 1989s that could be assembled. Finally, and most importantly, a team of 1989 born players is being sent when much more developped 1987 born players are elligible. Granted, its better to send prospective 1989s than 2nd rate 1987s who don't have serious RSL commitments - but the fact of the matter remains... Russia is not going to be overly competetive yet again. At least Zhelobnyuk should provide some solid goaltending and hopefully keep us in a couple games.

Yes, as i mentioned before, this is just another commercial tour for Russia-89. I think that is the reason of Cherepanov's absence - Omsk wants him to be in Russia and play in the RSL and not leaving the team for such commercial tours to NA. But i still think that this team is competetive. And also good opportunity to compete the guys you will see opposite on World championship. And don't forget that many scouts didn't like Russia's performance during Memorial of Ivan Hlinka. They called our best players "fops" (if i use this word correctly). So it is a new chance for them to show what they really can.

So we got close to their A team... If this was a U-18 tournament?
