Norfolk Admirals announce new owner: former player Patrick Cavanagh

The condensed version is that an OG ECHL Hampton Roads Admirals player, Pat Cavanagh is buying the team from the current out of town ownership group. Pat is local and owns a two-sheet ice complex in Chesapeake (about ten miles from Scope where the Ads play). This is a good thing and should stabilize the franchise.

Pat is local and owns a two-sheet ice complex in Chesapeake (about ten miles from Scope where the Ads play). This is a good thing and should stabilize the franchise.

Good local guy and very well respected. Their attendance, on paper, rebounded this past year. If it didn’t, they might have gone down the same path as the Monarchs. Hopefully they follow the trend set by other ex-AHL current-ECHL markets like Glenn Falls, Worcester, and St. John’s and become a solid AA franchise.
