Haha. I like Thomas Hertl as much as the next fan but it seems a bit premature to rank his first 7 games this year as the greatest goal-scoring season of all time.

I agree, it's weird, hockey reference took all summer to update the last season now they are running the current season in real time, which is helpful in a way but not with so few games.

Adjusted scoring bias or flaw against players from the 80's

I have heard it mentioned that adjusted scoring doesn't account for difference in 3th and 4th line scoring by teams in the 80's as compared to today and that the difference in GPG from the 80's is somewhat inflated.

Anyone have a link to this discussion?

http://hfboards.mandatory.com/showthread.php?t=1255759 is a lengthy conversation about the utility of adjusted stats.

http://hfboards.mandatory.com/showthread.php?t=1484885 is a thread I made discussing various methods of comparing offense between eras and the pros and cons of each.

Generally, the "By The Numbers" board is where you go for this sort of thing.

Edit: Damn Rheissen! :sarcasm:
