It mostly came down to points and Hughes and Makar came storming out of the gate while Fox had a slower start. And they were the bonafide #1 OFD on their teams while Fox was behind DeAngelo.

Hughes also outscored Fox by 11 points but had 12 more PPP.

Fox was also a plus 22 to Hughes -10 with much higher competition in the Metro.

It was so much fun to see our D corps turn it around this season.

Fox and Tony D combined for 95 pts this season. Wait til Trouba finds his stride. I think he struggled mightily. This break probably did him a lot of good. A new start. Things are looking up, heading into these playoffs. You know all the youngsters will be bigger, stronger and better prepared, knowing their roles and what's expected of them. Expect Chytil, Kakko, Fox, and Lindgren to have more of an impact. Their growth as players will be underestimated.

Can you explain how to read a chart like this. I have no idea what I am looking at.
I’m guessing: much more time in front of their net than in our own, with opponent possession concentrated around the blue line while ours is closer to the net, though overloaded to the left side. Is that right?

Can you explain how to read a chart like this. I have no idea what I am looking at.
The top half represents the offensive zone, bottom half is the defensive zone, and the red/blue indicate the amount of shots attempted by the entire team from a given part of the zone while Fox is on the ice. The redder/darker, the more shots in that particular area, and the bluer/lighter is the opposite.

In the simplest terms, that chart indicates that when Fox is on the ice, the Rangers are getting a lot of shot attempts in good scoring areas while simultaneously giving up very few good shot attempts against, at least relative to the rest of the team.

Translation - Fox is very good on D.

Does the chart indicate if Fox played against 4th liners or 1st liners? If not then it is kind of like comparing apples to oranges.

Fox is already an elite player. IMO he has the potential to win a Norris one day, I think he has a chance to be our best defenseman since Leetch. McDonagh was excellent in his prime but I think Fox has the opportunity to blow McD’s Rangers career out of the water.

Never was a really big McD fan. Tampa is going to regret that contract, worse than the Callahan one. As per Fox, couldn’t agree more. I like to see him work on his PP skills, still think he can be a very good PP specialist. 5 on 5 , he has been our best D on both ends of the ice. The eye test proves those charts accurate.

Never was a really big McD fan. Tampa is going to regret that contract, 10X worse than the Callahan one, which wasn’t even that bad. As per Fox, couldn’t agree more. Both contracts were god awful. You don’t sign guys who play like Callahan long term. It’s never a good investment. Ryan Kesler, Chris Drury, Brooks Laich, Andrew Ladd, the list goes on. It’s like giving a running back a second contract. You don’t do it. I know you love Callahan but it was objectively a terrible decision, hindsight not required.

They got Callahan almost for free. That was to me the worst Rangers trade that I can think of.

Don’t care anymore he is retired. So many likeable Rangers on this team like Fox, Mika, Kreider, Panarin, and so on, This has been my favorite roster since the 2012 line up. Fox stands out the most to me because he can be the next Leetch and surpass McDonagh. Which would be awesome.

This is my favorite Rangers roster ever and it’s not even remotely close, personally. 2012 was like watching a genocide compared to watching Panarin and Zibanejad do ridiculous things on a nightly basis. It was an awesome year, but it was ugly hockey, and I’m extremely glad we don’t play like that anymore. I’ll take exciting and raw over stable and pretty good any f***ing day of the week.

This Roster is shaping up to be filled with elite talent, something we did not have the last decade except for Hank. So definitely something to be excited about.

the only problem is they are somewhat a soft team, needs more physicality and upgrades to the likes of McKegg and Howden. Also Strome needs to play better and smarter and more physical.
