Isn't he from MI? Not sure why him having a place where he's from would be surprising.

Yeah, not surprising.

But if he didn't have a house there before, and bought it now, half year before a free agency, it could be a signal of his future plans.

He is more probable moving to Detroit as UFA than Trouba ever was.

I would expect that Chara could retire at the end of the season which likely will free up more cap space on the Bruins. I would definitely go after him.

Adrian is nowhere near Detroit. Krug is not signing with the Wings to have a 3 hour commute every game day.

edit: that's 1 1/2 hours each way, minimum.

Some guy at reddit mentioned, Krug has bought a house from Adrian, Michigan. Near from where his brother is a coach for the college team.

Could someone confirm this?

Interesting move, if true, half year before the free agency.

Millions buy multiple houses especially in places where they have family and where they are from. This means nothing.

Isn't Pierre Mcguire good friends with Steve Yzerman?

God I hope this isn't true. Stevie needs to take his own advice and "be patient" and slow down with all these trades.

No one mentioned how ridiculous it is to even create a thread based on anything that pierre mcguire says?

Not interested unless it's below 7 mil, which isn't likely. No way should we be spending huge money when our team could very well still be hot trash next year.. Krug doesn't push us into playoff contention.

If I were on a sinking ship and I come across two people telling me which way the life boats are, Eklund and McGuire, and Eklund say right and McGuire says left, I am going right. Not only because I don't trust McGuire at all, but also, best case if I believe him is I am stuck in a lifeboat with him, and I'd rather die.

Tyson Barrie would be another UFA option but I do question his defense. Offensive no problem.

Wouldn’t touch him with a 10ft pole.
He is a huge liability and if he’s not given premium PP time, his offensive output doesn’t even come close to out weighing his defensive flaws.

I am the OP, but I thought on June 13th, 2019, (slow/offseason) virtually any news from the MSM (whom I despise) was a conversation piece. Krug has been "tied" to Detroit for a few years. I hope SY doesn't do it for all the reasons mentioned in this thread: Bad Defensively, age, small, 5on5, PP specialist, UFA $'s & Term, Shattenkirk-esque signing, not physical etc. We may already have our future Krug in Cholowski albeit (bigger/younger/cheaper).

Couldn't it also be due to him anticipating a big payday, thus suddenly being able to afford multiple houses?
Per CapFriendly, est. career earnings: $27,865,140

Doesn't include any potential: investments/portfolios, endorsements, side gigs, i.e. commercials, autograph signings etc.

He can outright have several mansions & still live like a king already.

Unless these are the $7M+ variety mansions...

I would go right, get in the lifeboat with him, and throw him overboard.

Quite sure Cholowski becomes a trade bait if Krug arrives.

Same type of player, just not anywhere on that level.

Our left side would be on good shape with McIsaac jumping in next year.
I thought McIsaac was at least 2 yrs away?

Your point about Cholo being a future Top 4 PMD/PP specialist/trade chip is accurate, however how do you justify all the negatives of signing Krug?
...Bad Defensively, age, small (height & weight & reach) , 5on5, PP specialist, UFA Big $ & Term, Shattenkirk-esque signing, not physical etc.

This screams buyer beware. If he was the final piece on a contender, then maybe yes, but a big no for me (& I like Krug), just not the right fit/time. Need a better 2-way guy.

If I'm Boston Ii try to keep him because you have to think this is Chara's last year he's 43 in March hee can't play forever, if you loose Krug and Chara in the same off season that does A LOT of damage to the defense.

But if you can keep Krug then you have Mac Carlo and Krug, you can retool the rest pretty easy

Why? The trades he's been doing are all upside.
McGuire also said he wouldn't be surprised if Zadina got traded. So far with Grand Rapids from last year to current he has 20 goals in 72 games which is based on almost a full season. People appear to be very impatient. The kid isn't even 20 yet.

You have to fully appreciate the weasel-wording. It's not that McGuire thinks he'll be traded, or that he's heard he'll be traded, or anything of that sort. He's only saying that if it happened, he wouldn't be surprised. And he justified this with no specific information, just a more general idea that new GMs sometimes trade the old GM's players. It's almost completely a zero content statement.

Wouldn't be so worrisome if Peirre and Yzerman weren't best bros.
