His community outreach ability is tremendous. Guessing 20 or so MLB teams would love to have his skillset in their organizations. For all anyone knows Cohen may be leaving on his own initiative to a bigger position somewhere else.
The optics of this were not going to be good no matter what so I’ll wait to see how it plays out a little more.
Is this good or bad?

Presumably, our new owner is making his mark on the team. I'll be disappointed if all we're doing is getting a makeover of the executives without addressing the GM and coaching... Especially when all indications are that Cohen is a positive asset for the team.
Curious as to why?I'm ok with this.
What Simmons rumor?Yeah same here. Remember the big press conference last year... The "I sure as shit want to win" one. Aaron was a big part of that day.
I'm not going to bring up the C word but if that stupid Simmons rumor has any legs the LA Kings are my new team maybe.
What the hell?
Exactly my read.I think it is great that the team is making changes, it shows the owner is not afraid to nuke out people. I usually trust a self made billionaire with decisions about management. He has not even owned the team for a year and he is cleaning house. Looking forward to see who the axe falls on next.
Chiarelli??
I don't really care about this. Only natural that Meruelo will want to bring in his own people once he gets a feel for this thing.
Also, Cohen could do a thousand good things for the community but it wouldn't hold a candle to a decent run of on-ice success. Fix that problem first.
