Maybe he saw the writing on the wall. Which was possible 4th line duties making 1M give or take. Or he goes to the khl plays top line minutes gets paid 2-3M tax free. Leafs found him once someone will find him again if he performs and could secure a more reasonable contract

Unless he's one of the top 30 players in the KHL, Aaltonnen isn't earning more than a mil since the KHL is contracting due to lack of money and even when there was money, no one outside the top 30 earned over a mil.

Was uncle Leo a top 30 player when he was making 2M?

Ok... so we move Marner up to Matthews, and then the Kadri line falls flat... so who is of Marner's quality, to play on the Kadri line then? Part of our strength is our depth. We are just moving where the holes are. We have a hole that needs to be filled, with someone currently not in the organization. It doesn't matter too much to me, which hole we have to fill... but it's either a C, or a very good winger.

Y'all need to stop acting like the current lines are the only ones that will ever work. Johnsson just was the Calder Cup MVP scoring above PPG who played well in the NHL playoffs, and Kapanen was a PPG winger in the AHL last year who paced for nearly 20 goals this year in the NHL. You move Marner with Matthews and Nylander to C, you still have Kadri as a third line match up centre, who you can place with good defensive wingers, while Marner-Matthews and Nylander+whoever you give him, wreak havoc.

we were probably honest with him and his agent, you know they want to be on team and we most likely told them hes battling par and gauthier for a spot and maybe behind both, and thats with no FA signings...so if he aint guaranteed or likely getting a spot with the big club and most likely be in the A, like why not spend the year closer to home and he might be back after the year

If a KHL team made him an offer now, it might have not been valid anymore after the Leafs camp. KHL season starts 1st September and teams want to get their lineup sorted out early.

Pretty sure playing between JvR and Kessel didn't hurt Bozak's stats either.
Remember that one year after begging and pleading Bozak was taken off Kessels line to start the season, and was playing 3C. The man had 0 points in 13 games. And was awful defensively.

Don’t bring Bozak back. It’s time to move on from him, Leo and JVR.
