Hoffman Going out West?
August 16th, 4:19 PM
Hoffman has been testing the waters. After an argument with the GM, we have and are exploring trade opportunities for Mike Hoffman. We don't know what we want exactly, perhaps some picks and prospects. Offloading Hoffman means unloading 4x 5M salary. Some interested teams include: Columbus Blue Jackets, Nashville Predators and the Dallas Stars.

The Senators have also gauged interested for Bobby Ryan.

Going Abroad and who brings what
August 17th, 7:24 PM
As we get closer to the season start and potential trades, lets take a look at the prospects so far that are not signed.

NamePositionAgeTeamQuick Thoughts
Joel DaccordG20Arizona State, USHLLook for Daccord to potentially come up to play in the ECHL. With out current goalies, we doubt he will make the NHL any time soon.
Jordan HollettG18Medicine Hat, WHLJust like Daccord, Hollett is slated to be traded, or released in the near future. He was a 6th round pick.
Miles GendronLD21UCONN, HEA round 3 pick in the draft in 2014, Gendron has been signed to join the Senators after this contract in UCONN (2019). Expect him to play in the AHL for a while, when he will eventually be trade bait.
Christian WolaninLD/RD22North Dakota, NCHCCommitted to North Dakota this year, Wolanin will join the Senators franchise in mid 2018. We hope he will boost our defense core in the AHL to start.
Kelly SummersRD21Clarkson, ECACA round 7 pick in 2014, it is doubtful that Summers will get signed.
Filip AhlLW/RW20Karlskoga HockeyAllsvankanCurrently on loan from Orebro, his junior rights are held by Regina. We will be signing him and bringing him over as soon as we have room.
Shane EisermanLW21New Hampshire, HEaAnother round 4 pick in 2014, Eiserman may or may not make the team in the future. He may be shipped off in a package deal.
Todd BurgessC/RW21RPI, ECACWith heavy determination, Burgess is poised to join something higher then the ECAC. We have been in contact with him and mentioned that we will be watching him. He is in the same league as our fellow prospect, Kelly Summers.
Markus NurmiRW/LW19TPS, LiigaWe are high on this Finnish prospect. We feel that he will help our AHL team strongly.

With rumors flying before the first season, its hard to tell what has been confirmed. What we do know is that the Edmonton Oilers have officially decided to make a run for the cup. They have acquired 25 year old Conor Sheary from the Pittsburgh Penguins for a 2018 3rd round pick and a 2019 3rd round pick. The winger will wear #43, and is expected to play 2nd or 3rd line.

Hey there Mr. Seyde. We would like for you to name your Captain, and two assistant captains. Please note that you may change them at any time, but it will affect moral.

In response to this, the Senators have named their captain. Erik Karlsson will lead the Senators for this season. For the two assistants, the Senators have named Mark Stone and Nick Paul.

When asked about getting the "A", Nick Paul said:

"I'm excited that the Senators believe in me. I know that being assistnat and having that "A" means respect. I will not let the team, staff or the fans down." -
Nick Paul, Senators Forward.

The Ottawa Senators have put in a claim for Toronto's goalie Calvin Pickard. After picking him up, it is believed that the Senators have put the word out that Anderson would like to have a change of scenery.

When asked, the Senators replied,

"We love the way that Pickard plays. We hope that he will fit in with our young core. This also gives up a NHL ready goalie if/when we decide to trade Anderson/Condon. We expect Pickard to play in the AHL for a little bit."

Anderson shipped off to Seattle

Goalie Craig Anderson has officially been sent to the Seattle Totems in exchange for a 2018 3rd round pick and a 2018 4th round pick. Anderson has played 30 games for Ottawa, having posted a 11-15-4 record. It is thought that newly acquired Calvin Pickard will replace Anderson while he is 3-2-1.

Seattle acquired Anderson hoping to improve their 4-34-2 record. They have also reportedly gone after Halak from the Islanders.

When asked about the trade, the GM Brent Sutter said:

"We believe that Anderson has a few good years left in him. We hope that he will improve our record for the next few upcoming seasons. We currently have Yann Danis (2-21-1) and Logan Thompson (2-9-1) who have let us down. Anderson will be a starter in our next game".

Gardiner gets new start, Leafs keep on trading

It seems that the Maple Leafs are cleaning house after trading away Gardiner, Van Riemsdyk, Kadri, and losing Pickard on waivers. The Maple Leafs have traded defenseman Jake Gardiner and a 2018 to the Detroit Red Wings in exchange for 19 year old Swedish defense prospect Gustav Lindstrom and a 2018 2nd round pick. Lindstrom was a 2nd round pick in 2017 and is currently playing for Almtuna in the HockeyAllsvenskan

Islanders snub Senators, trade with Blues

In what seemed to be a sure deal, sending Duchene to the Islanders for Dal Colle plus others, the Islanders have shipped off forward Dal Colle to the St Louis Blues in exchange for Russian winger prospect Alexey Toropchenko. Alexey currently plays for the Guelph Storm and was a 4th round pick. Dal Colle had 22 goals and 41 points in 61 games playing for Bridgeport.

The reason behind the botched Senators trade is most likely the fact that the Islanders didn't want Dal Colle in the East.
