How it will work: There will be two different fantasy drafts - a NHLers fantasy draft and a prospects fantasy draft. Only NHLers with more than 50 games of NHL experience are available to be drafted in the NHLers fantasy draft and only players who've been drafted or signed by an NHL team and have less than 50 games of NHL experience (25 games in the case of goalies) are available in the prospects fantasy draft. The NHLers fantasy draft will be 25 rounds long and the prospects draft 8 rounds long. A salary cap of $50 million will be in place. Only players on your 23 man roster will count towards the cap. Salaries can be found on USAToday.com (link), not nhlpa.com. If you cannot find the salary of a player drafted in the NHLers fantasy draft then assume his salary is $1 million. If you cannot find the salary of a player drafted in the prospects draft then follow the following system: 1st round pick - $1 million salary 2nd round pick - $900K salary 3rd round pick - $800K salary and so on... Any player who is not on your 23 man roster will be considered a "farm" player. A "farm" player may not earn more than $1 million in salary (to avoid stacking your farm team with big-salaried players). When making trades, you may be creative. You are not restricted to trading equal quantities of draft picks. You can trade cash and picks in both the NHLers and prospects fantasy drafts. Just make sure you have enough picks to put together a 23 man roster! The draft order was made randomly by me. Several teams may have better positioning, but I made attempts to balance things out. In any case, both of the draft orders will be in zig-zag format to further balance things out. Please apply for no less than one team and no more than two. Also, this draft has no name, so feel free to make suggestions so that I don't end up picking a corny name for it. I will post the draft orders shortly.
