This one will not include trades, and disregards the recent rumor about the Black hawks attempting to trade. Of course, I believe the Rangers will a couple of deals on draft day. But, here goes:

1) Caps - OVECHKIN
2) Pens - MALKIN
3) Black Hawks - TUKONEN (This is where the draft turns. Most B'Hawks fans say they are more inclined to take a forward. So, I think it comes down to either Tukonen or Olesz. My choice is Tukonen, since he plays a complementary game to Ruutu, the Hawks best player.)
4) BJackets - BARKER (Chicago taking a forward means MacLean gets the player he wants.
5) Coyotes - MONTOYA (Yes, they already have a goalie in their system. And, if that goalie doesn't pan out? They apparently like Montoya a great deal.)
6) Rangers - OLESZ (Ouch, what a decision! To be honest either Olesz or Ladd are the choice here. However, the biggest need in the organization is a #1 center, and, after being rebuffed in their attempts to trade up for Malkin, the Rangers take Olesz with hopes of having him develop at the side of Jagr.
7) Panthers - LADD (To be honest, if Ladd is here, I could see the Ducks attempt to trade up. And, this a prime spot for a trade to happen. Ladd adds yet another quality forward prospect to a stable teeming with them.)
8) Hurricanes - THELEN (A crying need is properly filled. And, the recent deal of Malec signals the direction of this pick.)
9) Mighty Ducks - STAFFORD (BPA pick, Stafford fills the role the Ducks were hoping ti fill with Ladd.)
10) Thrashers - SCHREMP (A superbly skilled center handing out passes to Heatley and Kovalchuk. SCARY!)
11) Kings - SCHWARZ (The Kings get their goalie.)
12) Wild - PICARD (Solid forward to help the Wild upfront.)
13) Sabres - SMID (Sabres address needs on the blueline.)
14) Oilers - RADULOV (Oliers are thrilled that this highly-skilled, highly-competitive forward falls into their laps.)
15) Predators - CHIPCHURA (The typical Preds player - gritty and smart. He's is apparently who they've targetted.)
16) Islanders - WOLSKI (At one time, considered to be a top ten pick, the Islanders are happy he lasted this long. Some Isles fans have said that they might even be willing to trade up for him, and can't believe their luck when he becomes available.)
17) Blues - VALABIK (Another team in need of blueline depth.)
18) Canadiens - KORPIKOWSKI (The Habs replace the hole left by the trade of Balej with this impressive Finn.)
19) Flames - BOLLAND (A Sutter type of player - hard-working and over-achieving.)
20) Stars - MEZSAROS (Stars add quality to a lacking blueline.)
21) Avalanche - VOLOSHENKO (Impressive performance at U-18 gets him noticed by the Avs, who need to replenish a farm system that has been depleted in recent years.)
22) Devils - GREEN (Typical Devil player - smart and tough.)
23) Senators - LYAMIN (Sens add solid player who fits into their system.)
24) Rangers - O'NEILL (Typical Sather pick - big, raw defesneman.)
25) Oilers - DUBNYK (Thrilled at their first choice, the Oil decide to address an organizational need.)
26) Canucks - FRANNSON (Yet another team with a crying need on D)
27) Caps - SCHULTZ (Caps have a crying need for d-men, and Schultz is the best left on the board.
28) Sharks - GRAHAM (He is said to be in their sights; a lot of comparisons to Eric Daze.)
29) Capitals - LISIN (Caps are surprised to see him drop this far.)
30) Lightning - SINDEL (The Bolts are also surprised to see him drop this far.)

The Oilers will not be drafting a Russian. Not with all that red tape with Russian players. With Chipchura and Wolski available at #14, the Oilers will draft either of those before a Russian.

So you are saying that the Oilers will shy away from taking the BPA just because of the possible monetary risk? Perhaps they'll trade down then.

Wolski has his knocks, though the talent is there, and Chipchura is projecting as a bottom 6'er, something Edmonton does not need more of. If those are the BPA at forward at 14th, i would gamble with a defensemen. Meszaros would be a fine selection, being a skilled 2 way defensemen, with a high offensive potential. He was also the youngest player at the world's. Another possibility is Valabik, Greene paired with Valabik in the future would be a scary 3rd defense pairing. Valabik may be Russian, but is already playing in NA, so there 1) is no transfer fee from the Russian leagues 2) is not a year wasted for him in the AHL adjusting to the NA game.

Solid picks for my Oil. We simply shoot for talent in the first round. I would be happy with those picks.

Dont you worry...as their 44th pick they will be drafting either Dubnyk or Schneider, whichever of the two are left. If they make these picks they get a good prospect for every position.

I'm not worried. Even Kevin Lowe has uttered picking goalies in the draft is a crap shoot at best, so i can't see us using one of our 1st's on a goalie. One of Dubnyk/Shantz/Schneider should be their still at #44.
