Not to mention his cap hit is only $1.65m

Yup, teams who may only have been able to add one rental ~ with Grabs cap hit being tiny for what he brings ~ might be able to bring in him and another they have their eye on, if they are really going for it.

When you see what other rentals can go for, and you combine what he brings with his cap hit, he must be a seriously attractive piece for more than a few GMs.

This is actually really interesting. The entire current leadership is on the trade block. I don't see any obvious faces to simply take over.

Ziba might get an A, or Kreider. Either combo of Nash or Zucc will get the C if McDonagh gets traded. If McDonagh and Zucc is traded, Nash is the captain. If all 3 goes.. Staal?

The only real leader we have left if all 3 go, is Hank.

Honestly I can see a situation where Fast ends up with an A. Voted teammate of the year by his own teammates. I think an A on Fast would be well received.
Zucc is the most revered Ranger after Hank, and maybe even more so. Zero chance Mika gets a letter. None nada zilch. Kreider gets the C as motivation to play like the freak he can be.

Have they had Casino Night yet? Nash, Zucc, Grabs might not be here. No Smith. Lettieri, TDA, Pionk, Carey, Holland, Kampfer, McLeod all in tuxedos.

I am fully on board with this move. Thankfully they are smart enough to cut ties with these guys now while they can still fetch some vaule and knowing that Groton and Sather aren't going to try some craziness by trading for a season saving player just so we can sneak into the playoffs onky to get bounced in the first or 2nd round is refreshing to me. We had a good run. Now it's time to start over. To be fair there are some good young players on this roster who have a lot of NHL and playoff experience. This could be the push they need to ramp it up to the next level. It's on them now. The Defense is a bit of a mess. That needs serious attention. Onward and upward.

Leadership group should be completely changed. I'm fine with giving Hayes an A for the rest of this year. Despite his recent play, he's earned it. I'd also give it to Fast and Skjei.

If Coburn comes back in any trade with Tampa, he should be the default captain without the A.

Honestly though, no one should wear the C for a year or two. Whichever UFA they bring in whether it's Thornton, Filpulla, he Sedins for crying out loud, should take these kids under their wing.

So, are we reading anything into the fact AV isn’t a “signatory” on this document?

He isn't part of the front office in any capacity, why would he be on that?
If they wanted to include him they would have. If I were in AVs shoes I’d wonder why I wasn’t recognized as part of the decision making process. There are many coaches who’d have been included.

Are you the one who punishes babies? Or are you an infant version of The Punisher? Sorry. This question enters my mind ever time I see your comment. :)
