I came across this article on TSN, where they talk about Timo Meier and how he's evolved over the last couple years.
It's all here:
https://www.tsn.ca/the-forgotten-rfa-meier-starring-on-sharks-big-stage-1.1304496
You can see it in his stats too:
16-17 | NHL 34, 3-3-6 0.17 ppg | AHL 33, 14-9-23 0.70 ppg
17-18 | NHL 81, 21-15-36 0.44 ppg
18-19 | NHL, 78, 30-36-66 0.85 ppg
Compared to JP:
16-17 | NHL 28, 1-7-8 0.28 ppg | AHL 39, 12-16-28 0.72 ppg
17-18 | NHL 65, 12-8-20 0.30 ppg | AHL 10, 1-4-5 0.50 ppg
18-19 | NHL 45, 4-5-9 0.20 ppg | AHL 4, 2-2-4 1.00 ppg
They were both on similar trajectories in their first season. It was in Meier's second season where he started putting things together by being put in a position to succeed and the Sharks are being rewarded with his playoff performance.
JP has the same number of points (37) in the NHL as he does in the AHL in an 86 game differential. He could use some more AHL time but there's every bit of chance he brings Meier's 18-19 season to the forefront. I wouldn't trade him.
