But seen the only team left to cheer for me is Pittsburgh and I'm not a huge fan of them. Just thought with this game might cheer some up but let's say you can go back to any draft (but only 1) from 01-11 and rework the draft so Vancouver picks better which draft would try to fix so our team right now would be the best.

Some small rules (just to make it more interesting):
For the first 3 Rounds - You can only pick a player picked within 10 picks of our draft pick
From the 4th Round and on within 30 picks.

Also try and fit in with Capgeek just for fun but again some Rules
We will preclude our draft picks that were traded just to make it more fun especially seen someone will do the 07 Draft and we could still acquire Ehroff for other prospects than the great Patrick White.
For your Roster make it a 22/23 Man roster (as we would for any roster for next season)
We should allow some trades to our roster as we are already looking (ie. Luongo, Edler, etc.)

So I will begin:
2008 Draft
10th - Erik Karlsson
41st - Justin Schultz
131st - Matt Martin
161st - Teemu Hartikainen
191st - Anders Lindback

And for my roster:
Trades -
Luongo and our 1st for DiPietro (compliance buyout) and Niederreiter.
Bieksa for Helm.
2 UFA signings (Smithson at 1 million) and Regin at 800 thousand.

My Custom Lineup
FORWARDS
Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / Zack Kassian ($0.870m)
Alexandre Burrows ($4.500m) / Ryan Kesler ($5.000m) / Nino Niederreiter ($2.795m)
Chris Higgins ($2.500m) / Darren Helm ($2.125m) / Jannik Hansen ($1.350m)
Matt Martin ($1.000m) / Peter Regin ($0.800m) / Teemu Hartikainen ($0.900m)
Tom Sestito ($0.750m) / Jerred Smithson ($1.000m) /
DEFENSEMEN
Jason Garrison ($4.600m) / Erik Karlsson ($6.500m)
Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m) / Justin Schultz ($3.775m)
Alexander Edler ($5.000m) / Chris Tanev ($1.500m)
Frank Corrado ($0.599m)
GOALTENDERS
Cory Schneider ($4.000m)
Anders Lindback ($1.800m)

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)
(these totals are compiled with the bonus cushion)
SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $68,064,444; BONUSES: $4,775,000
CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $1,010,556

My Analysis a little weak up front but best Defensive unit in the league by far.

Sounds interesting, thought I would give it a shot.

2005 Draft
10th - Sidney Crosby (Haha somehow he fell to us) instead of Luc Bordon
51st - Paul Stastny instead of Mason Raymond
71st (If we still had it) - Kris Letang
114th - Keith Yandle instead of Alexandre Vincent
138th - Nathan Gerbe instead of Matt Butcher
185th - Sergei Kostitsyn instead of Kris Freidheim
205th - Anton Stralman instead of Mario Bliznak

Trades -
Luongo to Toronto for two 2nd Round Picks (Mostly Cap dump)
Edler to Philadelphia for Couturier (Fix up with picks)
Stastny and Kesler and Bieksa to Florida for Huberdeau and their 1st this year (Can also fix with more picks)
Sergei Kostitsyn anywhere for picks

Booth and Ballard Buyout if unable to simply trade them for picks.

I understand some of these trades may seem really bad or horrible in terms of lopsidedness, but let's just say they happen. Stranger things have happened.

My Custom Lineup:
FORWARDS
Jonathan Huberdeau ($3.194m) / Sidney Crosby ($8.700m) / Alexandre Burrows ($4.500m)
Daniel Sedin ($6.100m) / Henrik Sedin ($6.100m) / Jannik Hansen ($1.350m)
Chris Higgins ($2.500m) / Sean Couturier ($1.375m) / Nathan Gerbe ($1.450m)
Tom Sestito ($0.750m) / Maxim Lapierre ($1.000m) / Zack Kassian ($0.870m)
Jordan Schroeder ($1.025m) / Dale Weise ($0.750m)
DEFENSEMEN
Keith Yandle ($5.250m) / Kris Letang ($3.500m)
Jason Garrison ($4.600m) / Dan Hamhuis ($4.500m)
Anton Stralman ($1.700m) / Chris Tanev ($1.500m)
Frank Corrado ($0.599m) /
GOALTENDERS
Cory Schneider ($4.000m)
Eddie Lack ($0.750m)

CAPGEEK.COM TOTALS (follow @capgeek on Twitter)

SALARY CAP: $64,300,000; CAP PAYROLL: $66,063,611; BONUSES: $2,750,000
CAP SPACE (23-man roster): $986,389

As you can see I also re-signed Tanev, Schroeder, Lapierre and Weise. So with this Roster plus what would be Mckinnon in the minors, we would have a nicely revamped look. We also get incredibly screwed in resigning players in the long run but eh, we look good this season.

We wouldn't have Kassian if we drafted Karlsson though, since we traded Hodgson for him.

2004 Draft

Having trouble with this one, so many iterations, maybe someone could take it from where I left off?

1st round 26th overall - Pick Mike Green instead of Schneider
2nd round no pick (we traded that pick for Hedberg and could have grabbed Alex Goligoski or David Krejci :shakehead)
3rd round: stay with Edler
4th round: pick Ryan Callahan/Versteeg/Grabovski instead of Andrew Sarauer (who?)
5th round: pick Patrick Kaleta instead of Mike Brown
6th round: pick Troy Brouwer instead of Julien Ellis-Plante
7th round: no pick
8th round: pick Pekka Rinne/Mark Streit instead of David Schultz
9th round: stay with Hansen

Trade Luongo + pick for Petrovic + Theodore
Trade Edler for Couturier + pick
Compliance buyout Booth/Ballard
