Actually yeah I have, he's from London and recently bought a house near my work, many in the area know who he is and interact with him every summer.

Sorry that upsets you, but he's a known douchebag and has been for a long time.

This might be hard to believe but sometimes players can generate reputations in their hometowns during summers. He wouldn't be the first hockey to be an ass off the ice and he won't be the last. Marchand has(had) the exact same reputation around the Halifax area. A lot of them can mellow out as they get older but that doesn't make the comments or sentiment a lie either.

Corey Perry gets a lot of hate, some of it earned from a history of dirty play in his younger days. But since coming to the Lightning he’s been a great leader and teammate and is by all accounts a good guy off the ice. Before game 3 the Lightning had his son serve as the game’s Thunder Kid and this is just too cute and wholesome.

Only some of the hate was earned??

It's not just his younger days. Perry has been a rat and spot-picker through most of his 18 season career.

He may be a nice guy or good dad but that doesn't erase him being a dirty player for years.

I was at Fanshawe during his Knights days. He definitely had a reputation. Obviously most of those guys liked to party, typical hockey bro stuff. But most of them were decent guys. Perry not so much.

Grew up a a habs fan, helped drag the habs into the covid cup
and then bergevin let him walk to TB because he wouldn't give
him that second year. Idiot.
Changed the culture in habs dressing room and is still talked about
by players on the team, especially suzuki and caufield.
