the more i read about him, the worse this looks. seems like an ok prospect, but we didn’t need to take him in the top 100
Don't see the offensive upside here with this pick, but he plays a solid two-way game, skates well, is smart with good vision and patience. I'll have to give this time, but I'm not too sold on this pick right now.
Heh... watch Tyce become the best player we picked out of this year (other than Hughes).Again, I agree. The one Devils pick I hated in this draft. I mean -- I'm not complaining; it was just an incredible draft weekend for Devils fans. One questionable selection in the 4th round does little to wipe the smile off my face. But I would have been over the moon to get Spiridonov or Donovan with this pick instead.
Let's hope the Devils scouting sees something in Thompson which we missed, and he fulfills his promise as a big, bottom 6 RW with some offensive pop.

Edit. Read it wrong.Three Providence point producing forwards ahead of Thompson are turning pro. Should be able to have a larger role next season
25 points in 42 games as a 19 year old freshman isn't terrible, lets leave him develop for two more years before decide anything. He is at the tail end of his growth spurt and could finish at 6`2. He seems to get into good shooting positions and has a quick release. With his work ethic he should be an AHL'er at least.
Highlights from his freshman season at Providence. He was a big part of the run to the Frozen Four
I said the same around 20 years ago.He seems to have a fairly hard and quick shot from those highlights, granted most of those are one timers, I am done judging Castron's and Shero's picks. Its time to just be optimistic about the whole process.
