It'll be interesting to see Martel thrown into this competition for the last couple of spots. I still think Joseph makes it, not sure on Volkov.

Don't care if it's pre-season, post-season or off-season...Let's beat the stinkin' Panthers!!! Ok there are many other teams I dislike much more than Florida (#Cough#Boston#Cough#), but they will always be the stinkin' Panthers to me and I hope we beat them.

I'm always kind of shocked by how thin Joseph looks.

Cernak's a big kid though.

This is the game that will put Cernak on the team

I think he's outperformed Koekkoek so far by a reasonable margin, at least in their roles. Koekkoek's not doing much at all in the way of offense, where as Cernak is noticeable all the time on D, and just makes smart plays. I don't think it's far-fetched to think staff has no faith whatsoever in Koekkoek, and Cernak probably fits more what they're looking for in a guy who can give Dan Girardi the odd night off. One last thought on Cernak: We don't know if JBB will be so insistent on hoarding talent as Yzerman was, so it's not outside of the realm of possibility that we'll see Koekkoek moved quietly for a mid-rounder before opening night, if indeed we'd rather go with Cernak, with Masin as first call up.

But my gut feeling is we go into the season carrying 13-8, meaning, if I'm not mistaken, two forwards will be cut (and then a demotion when Callahan returns).

I'm looking at Martel vs. Joseph tonight.

Point with a near beauty

Cernak is impressive I think it's going to be really hard for them to send him down.

Hedman looks like Hedmonster.

Anyone else have to cut their volume WAY above normal to be able to hear?

I'm afraid a commercial or something is going to come through and blow up my TV..

Brayden Point is better than last year. He's putting on a show tonight. This bodes well.

Also, it seems minor, but that little play is why I think Joseph should make the team. He's got deceptive speed in straight lines, beats out the icing, forces the penalty. We can really use that kind of no nonsense raw skill to complement all the dipsy doodling.
