(Crottys) size/skating combo really stands out at this level. Long stride, smooth, good lateral agility. Takes care of his own end. He is poised with the puck, usually makes the smart first pass. Grant McCagg, Recrutes.ca

Mobile defenseman a factor at both ends of the ice quick and accurate point shot dictates pace of play decisive puck-mover takes away time and space effectively NHL Central Scouting

Recovering from an early-season injury, Crotty appeared in 41 games with the Braves, scoring four goals among 13 points and 32 penalty minutes. As a rookie in 2015-16, he appeared 57 games with three goals, 15 assists and 38 PIMs. NHL scouts are enamored with his size and athleticism.

Recognized as an all-around defenseman, Crotty has the strength to ward off forwards battling for position in front of the net and the speed to pace a breakout. Teammates credit Crotty for helping create scoring opportunities with crisp, precise passes and clearing the defensive zone with outlet connections.

Committed to Boston University, where he will continue to work on his foot speed. Displays toughness, excellent functional strength and size. Needs to work on improving his foot speed and agility.

I think we're paying attention to birthdates. Drafted a lot of young (born Mar-Sep) players today. Statistically that's a good strategy.

Unbelievably mature, composed, and personable interview responses. He seems 28 not 18 and he seems like an educated professional not a high school jock. Wow. Very impressive.

He was an academic all-star for his league. His Twitter bio is, "person first, player second".

Very articulate for his age. Smarts won't hurt him.

The lad should get more TOI than he wants next year - a couple of minute munchers (Fabbro and Krys) going pro. At this point he appears to be the only righty on the roster although I'm sure they will recruit a couple or three.
