The Pens will find themselves in one of three following scenarios:

* No. 2 seed in Metro: home-ice in First Round vs. NY Islanders

* No. 3 seed in Metro: begin First Round at NY Islanders

* No. 1 Wild Card seed: begin First Round at Washington

Here are how those scenarios play out:

* If Pens win in any fashion and Islanders lose in regulation: Pittsburgh earns 2nd seed and home-ice advantage vs. NY Islanders in First Round.

* If Pens win in any fashion and Islanders gain one point in any fashion: Pittsburgh earns 3rd seed and will play at NY Islanders in First Round.

* If Pens lose in overtime or shootout: Pittsburgh earns 3rd seed and will play at NY Islanders in First Round.

* If Pens lose in regulation and Carolina loses in overtime or shootout: Pittsburgh earns 3rd seed and will play at New York in First Round.

* If Pens lose in regulation and Carolina wins in any fashion: Pittsburgh earns 1st Wild Card seed and will play at Washington in First Round.

Here are the three games to keep an eye on:

* NY Rangers at Pittsburgh

* NY Islanders at Washington

* Carolina at Philadelphia
