I'll worry about him bolting if he's in his final year in college and it doesn't sound like he'll be signing. But that's still a few years away.
If Walsh is as good as most people said he looked during camp I can't imagine him staying the four years and putting off earning pro money for potentially two years before he could go FA, and with a depth chart he could advance up quickly to boot. Most guys that stay four years are mid-round pick late bloomers.
If he really is a diamond in the rough a right side of Severson-Santini-Walsh would be awesome.
Looking forward to watching him develop over the next few seasons!
Rykov plays on the left side? Draft a LD next year and let's go!
dahlin....o boy.
We would have to win the draft AGAIN to get him, though.
signing joey anderson in the next few years should make a big diff in signing walsh. the two are childhood buddies
Another connection for Walsh but this time with Miles Wood - both of their dads played for the Islanders.

I believe it was Matthew Hellickson and Joey Anderson who were childhood friends - Anderson grew up in Minnesota and Walsh New Hampshire, and while the hockey world is often quite smaller than the geography would suggest, I don't think it is in this case.
I felt this probably belonged here as opposed to the off-season/team thread:
Maturation process continues for Devils draftee Reilly Walsh
Very disappointed he can't play in the Prospects Challenge. We gotta stop drafting NCAA kidseverything he said is exactly what you want your prospects to be saying. can’t wait to see how he turns out
I doubt he spends 4 years in college.
I dont see a player leaving 1 year before getting a Harvard degree . any other college and I agree with you
f*** he seems so smartI felt this probably belonged here as opposed to the off-season/team thread:

Speaking of a respite from discussing the sport, Walsh’s favorite class was Chinese philosophy, which he took during his first semester.
"It was a random class that some of the guys had taken before," he said. "They said it was interesting, but I took it very seriously. It was one of my best classes. My teacher was really good, engaging, and we learned a lot about what their writings meant and what second meanings were. Decoding the Chinese philosophers’ writing styles, seeing what they believed in, comparing it to others, and analyzing all the literature was really cool."
**** he seems so smart
i think he's stayin 4 years
