Flyers don't have any top flight snipers, so taking a lot of shots from 15-20' that aren't screened isn't going to be a productive strategy. In fact, they have a limited amount of good shooters, much less elite shooters.

Flyers only have a few players who consistently and effectively go to the net (Konecny tries, but let's be real), Simmonds, Patrick more as the season progressed (but he'll be better at it next year when he adds strength). Couts at times, who else? Raffl will go to the net but has below average hands, Lindblom will but is snakebit (which may be partially rookie jitters).

Manning at least will skate to find an open shooting lane, Gudas just throws it on net from the point, Sanheim hasn't shown him self to be a good shooter, Provorov has potential as he attacks the net more, Ghost has actually struggled more this year.

They're 24th in GF/60 and 22nd in xGF, 5x5.

It's more the personnel than the scheme, they need better shooters and more players who can attack the net, set screens and plant rebounds into the net.
Help is on the way with Frost, Allison, NAK, etc.

The fact that the first line is one of the best scoring lines in the league suggests the scheme isn't suppressing talented players.

maybe the first line says screw the system and scores because they know the system sucks and driving the net gives you a better chance to score

Except watching the 1st line, they don't play differently than the other lines, in fact, you could make the case Voracek enters the O-zone as much or more.
They just execute much better.

So all 31 of the other NHL teams have players more capable of getting shots off in the slot?

You know the answer is a resounding NO.

THIS.
IS.
OUR.
SYSTEM.

Why are you fighting this? Is this just so blame is shifted more towards the players rather than the coach? Yep, that's it.
Where did you get that stat?

Hakstol will have lines play a bit differently.

Just as he had PEB playing practically at the blue line routinely, even at a time when every other center would camp out behind the net to keep pucks flowing around the perimeter. PEB only played that way under Hakstol.

Need a Brian propp or Tim Kerr or I would love a Phil Kessel sniper
