Hart should play this game with Talbot as the backup. That way Elliott gets 2 days off between games for the b2b.

And then on Friday, start Elliott with Talbot as the backup.

This allows us a fresh starter for both games....and whoever plays the best between them, gets Sunday's game.

What you don't want, is Hart to start on Thursday, get pulled, and have Elliott as the backup. You are then left with 3 bad options for Friday.

To be only 3 pts out at this point is pretty amazing. When they add this summer it will be that much better. The D looks like it will be absolutely stacked and likely surprise the rest of the league. The offense will at least get Frost and likely a big UFA. Even if it’s not Panarin, it will be someone with skill that will improve the team. Then you have Hart of course. The division looks pretty open and I think we will take it next year. Or at least compete for it.

Washington completely outclassed the Flyers for the first 30 minutes last week. Flyers better not come out sleepwalking this time. I would also start Hart for this game. Before his injury, he had a shaky game vs Detroit, then was pulled 2 consecutive games against Tampa and Montreal. Hart needs a solid game against an elite team.

All we really need is a bottom-pair D that can just be invisible 95% of the time.

Guess Gordon will be throwing Hart to the wolves instead of pitching him a softball against the Sens.

At what point do we stop carrying 7 d-men? It's ridiculous.

We were so unbelievably overmatched in that series with Couturier out and yet somehow took 2 games off of them on the back of Neuvy's miracle showing.

Didn’t help that Sargent Hak seemed to go out of his way to put the worst four players on the team (some of which shouldn’t even have been on the team) on the ice everytime the other team got a PP.

Hak's over reliance on guys like PEB and Vandevelde while the PK was mired in the bottom third of the league was just mind boggling. As bad as Mimsy is, and he's pretty bad, he's still an upgrade over Hak.

Questions for the day:

Can they keep this run up and get into the playoffs?
Will Jake win his appeal and be available Thursday?
Will Mimsy ever realize that Hagg sucks?
Is Michael Neuvirth still alive?
Is 8:40am too early to start drinking?

Maybe
Probably not
No....

How long until a team glues one guy to Ovechkin - like literally have him so close for the entire PP that Ovi can't even wind up for a one-timer - and just have the other three try to defend as if it's a 3v4...

That has to be better than letting him take shots constantly.

I said it last game last Wednesday night at the game and they Flyers played typical PK alignment and boom goal for OverChicken

Maybe teams think that doing that will make the Caps do something to make him Ovi a pick or something?

I have no doubt that Couturier can shut him down. None. (At least for a game) He's that good. Unfortunately we don't have a coach or scheme in place for that style of play.....at this time.

I guess Gallant is an idiot also since PEB is a mainstay on Vegas's PK
Well, at least he's not being weighed down by Vandevelde. I didn't have a problem with Bellemare being used on the kill, I just thought they were using him, and especially Vandevelde too much and a guy like Couturier to little. I also thought that Giroux should have seen more time on the PK. When your PK constantly sucks, you change things up. Under Hak, they usually didn't.

Sink or swim for Hart.

A win puts him in the zone and he carries the team in future games.

Honestly believe the team's D tries harder when he's in nets. Think there's a subconscious element at play since he's a rookie and needs all the support they can muster. Both professionally and emotionally.

A loss... well.... can you say 'F***'d'?
