Oct. 1, 2009 vs. Washington: The Bruins dropped their season opener with a 4-1 loss to Washington as the Capitals' Alex Ovechkin and Brooks Laich had two goals and an assist each and Nicklas Backstrom added three assists. Patrice Bergeron scored Boston's lone goal at 7:56 of the third period with assists to Steve Begin (his first as a Bruin in his first game as a Bruin) and Mark Stuart.
