It's worth noting that he played in a men's league at 17 and only took a single penalty. I have no idea how much ice time he got and exactly what kind of role he played, but that's impressive as hell. Especially for what appears to be a guy who engages physically a lot.

Didn't get a ton of ice time, around 10 minutes a game. Still, someone that plays like THAT and only takes one penalty all season? That is absolutely ridiculous.

It's worth noting that he played in a men's league at 17 and only took a single penalty. I have no idea how much ice time he got and exactly what kind of role he played, but that's impressive as hell. Especially for what appears to be a guy who engages physically a lot.

Either they are really lenient with penalizing hits, OR he's really good at making big, clean, open ice hits (or he barely hits his opponents and they're weak and fall down easily and the refs are just giggling at how easy they go down)

In watching the litany of hits in the video, there was only one I can remember that was penalized, and it was one where the fan base would argue was a borderline bad call. That's to say that it appeared to me to be consistent with what I've seen from NHL reffing.

Yeah from the highlights there's not much I saw that blatantly crossed the line even in to charging territory ala Wilson. Right up to the line of whether or not they're legal hits. I can see opposing teams absolutely hating this guy, which i love. Been way too long since this franchise has had someone like that, all the way back to the point that I am pretty sure the last guy we've had that should generate much ire is Ulfy, maybe early career Pronger.

Russian doctors are actually the ones that aren't willing to take the responsibility of allowing him to play, that's why he went to Germany to get clearance from their doctors (possibly after some more advanced diagnostics or something). Anyway, now he has been given permit to play again.

Well, Germany has pretty good sports medical industry (not a knock on Russian doctors, just the Germans are really advanced at that), so I don't see a reason for the KHL to not to recognize their diagnostics and doctor conclusions.

Specifics likely won't be revealed, but unless Canes management guys aren't too smart, I'm pretty sure they knew all the details before making the pick.

from the days of having a metal plate in your head that could crack your own skull not being enough reason to turn down a fight after something questionable and it drove people to the brink of insanity.... along with his naturally sweet disposition. i still don't know if the metal plate thing was true but it was nice to have in the back pocket at the time

He wasn’t as universally hated as Ulf or Pronger, but he did seem to have a way of getting under people’s skin. If you were hearing about Sean Hill in the national media it was almost always about some cheap shot or trolling.

I freaking loved Sean Hill. Dude was an absolute warrior. The first booming slapshot from the point that I fell in love with. He had a bit of nasty without being undisciplined. I bet he could cut diamond with his jaw, too.

He was the first one suspended for it... Berard and Theodore both failed tests, but they were lucky enough to do it before the suspension policy kicked in.
