This is funny. Thompson did one good fight and a lot of him defend his hockey game for that? My god. He is still our worst forward and he should be HS.

If you need fight, Hagg is there. Braun is big boy too, Myers too. And in last option, we have Voracek who probably won every fight who he had and can destroy everyone if he wants.

We are in 2020. Prefer hockey players in every position instead gooners. Thank you.

Didn't you think Couturier sucked based on your eyes? Not a ringing endorsement.
That’s exactly the issue.

The eye test is only worth as much as the viewer. Two different people can watch the same player and see totally different things. Like in the Couturier example.

Also literally nobody is saying to only use stats, that’s just a lie made up by the people scared of stats.

SPORTSNET GOING OFF ON HOW TOM WILSON WENT "SLAPSHOT" ON US LAST NIGHT ..."BEATING GUYS UP"..."RUNNING AROUND"...BASICALLY INTIMIDATING US AND KICKING OUR ASSES. ALSO SAYING HOW GREAT HE IS AND HOW TEAMS HAVE TO GAMEPLAN FOR HIM..

THEN THE QUESTION WAS ASKED IF "ARE THE FLYERS A LEGITIMATE STANLEY CUP THREAT?"...ANSWERS WERE "SECOND TIER" AND "1b" "AFTER THE BIG TEAMS"

Claude Giroux was certainly intimidated by him as he skated by him laughing as Wilson got hauled off to the penalty box.

I can't argue the second one, they are in that second tier IMO. They're getting closer but there's still a gap but "anyone" can win the Cup once you're in if the cards fall right.

The problem is that Wilson is viagra for HockeyGuys™ .

When they watch him running around all of the blood leaves their tiny brains and goes into their tiny dicks.

They dont care about the cheap shots. Dont care that 99% of his punches land on the back of helmets. Dont care that we were still laying Caps out on the forecheck regularly. Most definitely dont care that we kicked their ass on the scoreboard.

What is more likely to help a team win? Getting (literally) dragged into a fight or outchancing the other team?
You need to be heavy, the flyers are getting there. St Louis, Boston, Washington are all a handful....They have the ability to win games in different ways. So replacing some size and snarl with skilled midgets becomes an issue in spots....See Toronto.

giroux dove out of his way like i have seen very few players do. It was smart but kind of funny

NAK will have a hard time leveraging more than say ~$1.5m. Maybe even less. As good as he has been.

Same for Pitlick. Though maybe he can try and hold out for like ~$2m.

Now Grant... he can probably demand a good $2.5m as a C.

NAK has 1 year as a 4th liner, not going to be a lot for that.
Pitlick is having a good season as a 3RW, but he's still a run of the mill 3rd line guy with durability questions.
Grant is a journeyman who'll be 30 next year, he might get a bump but he's not going to cash in.

Dubas is a total numbers guy. You should cheer for the Leafs.

I'm sure if you asked nicely someone on here would be willing to teach you about stats. They're not so scary when you learn a bit about them. :thumbu:

Then you can do what many of us do, which is use them as a supplement to the eye test, that way you can better understand the sport.
