I kind of want them to put "shit" back under the curse filter. It's like watching "South Park" torrents where you hear all the cursing - it's better when it's bleeped and your imagination fills in the blanks.

He can't make his linemates better but he can play with his linemates as he scales up the lineup....

This is a really good point. There is a huge difference between good and bad complimentary players.

Laughton plays defence, forechecks hard, knows when too shoot, goes to the dirty areas. He understands his role and has the skill to make it work.

I have no issue with him in the top 9. I just dont like him playing center. He isn't a good enough distributer and it nullifies his ability to get in on the forecheck, which I think is one of his plus assets.

Especially when his wingers arent play drivers, that's to me when you see his lines get into all sorts of trouble moving out of the defensive end.

PK and EVD are just separate skills too.

Ilya Kovalchuk is a fantastic PKer... one of the better PKers in the NHL over last 15 years.

But he sucks defensively at 5v5!

Giroux has a good claim to being the best, or 2nd best, PK of the last 10 years... but his EVD is just "solid/above-average".

Absolutely. Sometimes it feels like bizarro land around the trade deadline, its always the same handful of "complete" specialists moving around. Guys that are basically know for winning draws, PKing or some other specific skill.

It's how guys like Thompson and Grant end up playing on 8 teams in a short career.

If they were actually well rounded and complete players GMs wouldn't be so comfortable constantly moving them.
