That's a highly misleading statement without context. He said that just before Perry all of a sudden started playing great hockey, and he's pointed out multiple times that Perry is playing at a high level since then.

Has assessment at that point in time was hardly shocking. Perry was doing nothing on the PP or at ES. Huge props to Perry for completely turning it around. It's not like he wasn't getting the opportunities. A switch just flipped for him.

Have you been watching Perry play this season? Very talented player who can create for himself or for others. Add on top all that experience, which is pivotal in a game 7, and Shapiro goes with the AHLer

If it was like picking Polak over Sekera, the other way around, its like OK.. you can make a case of either guy. But comparing Perry and Dowling it's like two players who aren't even in the same dimension.
