this is going to be an ugly week in oilerville

The next 2.5 weeks are huge for this team and we should be able to tell if this team has a legit shot at the playoffs before we play in Chicago on the 25th. 6 of our next 8 are on home ice and every one of them is a winnable game. If we're 3 games above .500 at that point we aren't making the playoffs.

for me--I have the oilers just on the edge of the playoffs and I think fans hoping for more will be angry and let down

Agreed. It'd be great to be playing meaningful games in the last month of the season for once - that's all I ask for this year as a fan. Playoffs would be a bonus but I'm not holding my breath. There's plenty of teams that are bad enough to keep us out of the basement though. Columbus, Calgary, Colorado are three teams that we should be finishing ahead of.

I don't see the Oilers making the playoffs this year. I see them drafting around 10th this year which is an improvement. This year will give management an idea of who should be on the team and who should not.

If we are out of the playoffs come trade deadline do Whitney, Hemsky and Jones get moved?

I have a tough time seeing a playoff team taking Whitney. He's a healthy scratch on our team, how's he supposed to make the roster of a playoff or cup contender even as a depth guy?

What's upsetting is that we could easily be ahead of Vancouver right now. Although we didn't deserve a win last night, it was a winnable game; same goes for the Colorado game in Denver. It's these games i'd hate to be looking back at in May thinking "if we had only won this game or that game". What's refreshing is that the Oilers are competitive in every game and haven't looked hopeless regularly like the last few years.
