If Hart was going to play again this year and we saw he would be ok I would be more comfortable with a lesser backup next year than I wanted this seasons. But now we don’t know. But this past season , where the goal was to split starts with Hart, it was such a bad idea to put it all on Hart.

It'll be a lot easier to sign a 1B this offseason, because they know Hart will be treated with kid gloves, and even if he bounces back, the 1B will get 30-35 starts. That's a lot more attractive than backing up a kid coming off a great playoff who played 60+ games a year in junior.

He was what? 21? I wasn’t so confident and it also seemed like a possibility he would have some injury this year

After last season there was reason to be optimistic, but there was also reason to be skeptical after watching him on the road last year.
I'm not sure what to expect from him anymore. Long term he'll be fine, but for next season he probably shouldn't be the undisputed starter.
