See a few scouts who had him in the late 1st. I like the size and how relatively young he is.

Also comparables 4 and 5 are somewhat familiar to the Flames.

He looks pretty good judging from his highlights, the way they were talking about him he didn't have much offensive upside, those vids kinda dispute that. Liking the pick for sure.

I think Pelletier, Zary and Coronato are solid top 6 guys for us. We needed to go upside in all areas with our 2nd so Stromgren hits all areas especially much needed size with skill.

People seem happy with this pick so that’s good enough for me. I can’t say I’d rather have x player instead, I’m not a scout lol

Looks ok although I was hoping the Flames would use the pick to restock the cupboard with a defenseman.

I really wanted Stankoven with that pick. That said I've never seen this kid play, just loved Stankoven. I of course also loved Shinkaruk his draft year so what the hell do I know? The Flames also loved Poirier that year so what the hell do they know? Lol

I wanted to take a flyer on Aatu Raty, but this guy sounds pretty good the more I hear about him.

Stoke me a clipper.
While all the attention from the Calgary Flames’ 2021 NHL draft class has been on Matt Coronato—and rightly so given his draft position and incredible offensive numbers—William Stromgren was an excellent pick for the Flames at 45th overall in the second round. If being among elite Swedish wingers who can score goals galore is a good accolade for a draft pick, then he’s definitely belongs.

2021 second-round pick William Stromgren brings exceptional talent to the Calgary Flames prospects
