Totally agree on Clutter, he has been great as of late but I still don't see what Trotz (and other coaches for that matter) see putting him on the PP. Do not necessarily agree on Dal Colle. He was not good tonight but he has looked like he belongs. He's noticeably stronger and is doing things like solid forechecking which in the past he simply couldn't do. I think the thing with him is we have to get out of our head the thought of him being a big point producer. He's a third line player that can give a little punch. That's his ceiling. Think Filppula, not Barzal.

MDC makes me think Brad Dalgarno, not sure if that is good or bad

Clutter on the PP does not work, if anything Leo would be better down there, but they are going to have to add a big body PP guy for the 2nd unit or a dirty area finisher

Talking about Clutter on our PP is like complaining about a pimple on your ass while the Titanic is sinking.

Maybe too much scoreboard watching but hey I enjoy it.. 4 pts up on Buffalo with game in hand and up 4 in ROW... Will be rooting for Calgary against them tomorrow.. Canes lose tonight.. Some daylight between us and 9th place. Keep it rolling.

I'm more concerned with Carolina than Buffalo. I'm not sure Buffalo is good enough to make up ground. They had a really hot stretch in November, but have been pretty mediocre since. Is Montreal or Carolina worse than them?

the powerplay is just an abomination. I have no idea how you solve it but it is the single most glaring issue and why even if we make the playoffs we won't be successful.

I think we trade to make it better, you have to add a PP specialist forward to the team that is in Clutter's spot, and guys like Nelson and Bailey have to shoot the puck

You put Toews in Leddy's spot, and you have movement like the second unit had late in the game. Bailey moved it to the goal line where it was immediately moved back to Beauvillier for a quick shot. Fast and deliberate.

There is some nepotism at play here. If Lou could part with his precious Devil, we will see an improvement. It's really baffling that Gomez, an NHL all-star with a storied career does not see what casual fans see. We are bottom dwellers in the league for PP goals and % conversion.

It's Cronyism, not Nepotism.

Gomez is a carry over from Snow/Weight thought... when I see Kyle Palmieri I am thinking he would be that RW that we could use on the PP, doubt NJ would deal him but that is the type of guy who would clean up in Clutter's spot on the PP, he was born in Smithtown does he have Islander jammies?

I still say the Sharks are the best team in the league, they have erupted of late, hopefully can beat the Pens tonight at home

We certainly are catching some teams at their low point Washington and Anaheim ahead... Carlyle probably gets fired any minute now

Wow. That was winning ugly. To paraphrase Cleveland Indidans manager Lou Brown, “Nice win boys, don’t ever do it like that again”.

Bank the points and be better on Thursday.

Some takeaways from tonight:
1. I hope every man on this team walks past Robin Lehner’s locker and thanks him for saving our ass tonight.

2. Devon Toews gets more comfortable on the ice every game. He’s not making mistakes in defensive coverage like he did the first two games up. He’s looking like a vet already.

3. Mat Barzal did his best Josh Ho-Sang impersonation again tonight. His rink tours led to a Blues goal. He needed to make smart plays with the puck tonight and he didn’t do that.

4. Nick Leddy again.

Whatever Barzal did in regulation was wiped out by the OT. He was brilliant, and not just the pass on the winner. The best was when he won a puck back that was tied up along the boards and retained possession with some great work behind the goal and into the corner.
