ISLANDERS NOTES:

- The Islanders (58 points) currently sit in third place in the East Division, four points back of the Washington Capitals (62 points) and one back of the Pittsburgh Penguins (57 points). Boston currently lurks four points back with two games in hand of the Islanders.

- The Islanders-Flyers season series has been remarkably close this season, with five of the first seven games going beyond 60 minutes. The Islanders won the previous two meetings 3-2 in a pair of shootouts and scored a 2-1 OT win in their last trip to Philly. Six of the seven games have been decided by one goal.

- Barry Trotz has not announced his goaltender for Sunday's contest. Ilya Sorokin has a 4-0-1 record against the Flyers this season, with a 1.89 GAA and a .933 SV%, while Semyon Varlamov is 0-1-1 with a 3.47 GAA and a .854 SV%. Sorokin has posted the better numbers, but the rookie has only played consecutive games once this season. Check back after morning skate for the latest lineup information.

- Josh Bailey and Cal Clutterbuck both missed Friday's game and are considered day-to-day. Bailey's absence was his first since March 31, 2018, ending a streak of 196 consecutive games played.

- Leo Komarov and Michael Dal Colle reentered the lineup on Friday in place of Bailey and Clutterbuck. Komarov skated with Matt Martin and Casey Cizikas, while Dal Colle - who had missed nine games with a lower-body injury - skated with Brock Nelson and Kyle Palmieri.

- The Islanders have killed off 17 of their last 18 penalties.

- The Islanders have lost four-straight road games (two in Pittsburgh, two in Boston).

FLYERS NOTES:

- The Flyers are 3-4-2 in eight games to start April, most recently losing 6-3 to the Washington Capitals on Saturday afternoon. Ivan Provorov, James van Riemsdyk and Wade Allison scored for the Flyers.

- The Flyers (46 points) are fighting for their playoff lives, as they are eight points back of Boston for the final playoff spot in the East. The Bruins have two games in hand and the New York Rangers (50 points) also stand between the Flyers and the playoffs.

- James van Riemsdyk scored on Saturday, snapping a 17-game goalless drought. van Riemsdyk had scored 14 goals in his first 26 games this season before his drought. van Riemsdyk leads the Flyers with 35 points (14G, 21A).

- Carter Hart was a late scratch from Saturday's game, missing the contest with a lower-body injury. Alex Lyon started in his place, making his first start since Feb. 1, 2020

- Brian Elliott is slated to start on Sunday. He is is 1-0-1 with a 2.34 GAA and a .911 SV% vs the Isles this season and 11-6-1 overall with a 3.04 GAA and a .888 SV%.

- Claude Giroux leads the Flyers with eight points (3G, 5A) in seven games this season. Jakub Voracek (3G, 3A) and Travis Konecny (6A) each have six points against the Isles this season.

- The Flyers traded forward Michael Raffl to the Washington Capitals at the NHL Trade Deadline for a 2021 fifth-round pick. Raffl played 504 games over eight seasons with Philadelphia, racking up 160 points (81G, 79A).

- The Flyers re-signed center Scott Laughton for five years on Monday.

Feeling a strong game from the boys tonight. Palmieri with 2 goals, Nelson hits a wide-open net, and Dal Colle hits the Flyers crest a few times

As I said a few games a go, now is the time to take their play to the next level (if they can). High intensity, attention to details, stick to what got you here.

Do not want to see them go on a subtle tailspin that snowballs into the playoffs.

Better win today and preferably to look good doing it. But if we lose today, prepare for an insanely stressful Tuesday night, not to mention the 10 games after that.

Apologies for the other night, was a rough day at work and the Isles playing shitty put me much more on edge than usual

FWIW I think you’re one of the better posters here

Cheer man, my apologies as well. And thanks for realizing I was trying to extend an olive branch before today's game. Seemingly we cared more about the team's effort on Friday than the damn team did, and let it get the better of us!

And yes, if I thought you were a garbage poster I wouldn't have even made the effort. :5:

I'm thinking Mayfield. I still want Dobson out there on the power play.
Not a chance it's Mayfield. Barry loves him. Almost as solid a bond as @Strummergas and @Tres Peleches.. :sarcasm:

It's Dobson or a break for Green, but my money would be on Dobson. Partly because he seemed to struggle Friday night, and maybe from the hit he took. An extra day or 2 of rest?

My money is actually on Coburn being scratched again. With Clutter and Bailey both out tonight those are 2 guys Trotz relies on for the PK and PP. As much as Mayfield or Dobson deserve a night eating press box popcorn I wouldn't make this the night.

Mayfield was PERSONALLY responsible for both goals in the loss on Friday and should get the day off. Dobson had his normal growing pains but was really no worse than Leddy was last game. Greene is too steady to be punished as the culprit

Trotz HAS to figure out how to solve that Leddy/Mayfield line that has been our sore spot on the blue line all season. They are both now at negative +/- for the season while everyone else is +5 (Dobson) or better.
