It all comes down to bounces, breaks and other random occurrences.

Nylander could be someone foligno and duclair would fit great with but the leafs may not let a stud like him go even for Panarin

I can't wait to watch Torts get pissed because Maetzold and Portzline asked dumb questions rather than give some constructive insight.

Another 30 games to watch him walk for nothing. Like you said we could at least flip the pick or prospect for something in the summer.

If that is what you believe. I want to pull for Korpisalo to be the guy next year but next year is next year and so far he hasn't performed like he can be trusted with the job. If they are trying to make the playoffs this year, it is going to be with the guy who has won 2 Vezina trophies. This team will live and die by his performance as evidence from this season so far. If Korpisalo gets hurt, he is easily more replaceable this season.

30 games is 30 games versus the virtually 0 we would get out of the prospect and pick.

If nothing happens after the 30 games, then what did we lose?

Torts will find himself out of NHL coaching job unless he turns this ship around quickly.

Those 30 games are just as important as any other 30 game stretch in this team's future.

Not winning the Cup doesn't suddenly make them meaningless.

Plus, the team needs to focus on the players and fans who are here today over those who may or may not be here in 2-3 years.

This team has one objective right now and that is to boost ticket sales for next season. The only way to do that is to win and entertain fans at the end of this season.

Nobody looks good next to Tampa right now. Should we just give them the cup and cancel the rest of the games? This is largely the same Lightning squad that lost in the playoffs to the Caps. For all we know the Bruins or someone will knock them out before they face a Metro squad. Or they win it all. Or we figure our **** out and beat them. We won't find out if we run and hide.

#25OA & Milano? You'd take that for Panarin? Really? There'd be an exodus of fans (and possibly players).

What exactly is your plan? Keep rebuilding until you become as good as the Lightning you just saw? You could have consecutive #1 OA picks and that wouldn't do it, much less that garbage offer. I really can't understand this as anything other than a fear of failure. Keeping Panarin makes it matter too much for you to handle.

Bobs been pulled in what 2 of his last 4 games ? Being replaced by Korpi is becoming common place . Can’t wait till Bob , and his huge salary are moved from this team . Maybe we can go out and acquire the skill in our forward group to compete

That would be ideal, yeah. I dont think we’re incredibly far off. Certainly don’t need 1OA to do it (I mean, other than Stamkos they didn’t either.)

It’s not fear of failure. It’s panarin, not the whole roster. Nobody is suggesting to gut the entire roster. He’s our best forward, yes, this is true, but he’s not the savior. I want to keep him, but if he doesn’t want to stay why prolong his stay? With or without panarin, this is a bubble team.

Because you owe it to the fans and players to ice the absolute best roster you can even after the TDL.

There are times when selling assets makes sense. There are times when it doesn't. Those times are not dictated by what the player will do but rather the position the team is in. If this team is in a playoff position at the TDL, they cannot afford to sell even if Panarin says he isn't coming back.

That's what you're doing if you move Panarin for lesser assets.

But if you want to focus on the terminology, fine. Instead replace "sell" with "immediately make the team as assembled worse." Teams in playoff positions don't do that at the TDL. At least not intentionally.
