NEW YORK ISLANDERS (2-1-0) AT NASHVILLE PREDATORS (3-1-0)
8 P.M. ET | BRIDGESTONE ARENA
TV: MSG+ | MSG GO
RADIO: 88.7FM WRHU | 103.9FM LI NEWS | RADIO.COM

After a four-day break, the New York Islanders return to action on Saturday night, taking on the Nashville Predators for the second time in a week.
The Predators won the first meeting last Saturday 4-3, but the Islanders responded with a 4-0 win over the San Jose Sharks in a Columbus Day matinee. Robin Lehner made 35 saves for the shutout.
This is the second and final meeting between the teams this season and marks the first game of a four-game Western Conference swing for the Islanders. The Islanders have won two straight games in Music City.

ISLANDERS NOTES:
- Casey Cizikas was reportedly not at Friday's practice and is a game-time decision for Saturday's contest.

- Andrew Ladd could potentially return to the lineup - and make his season debut - on Saturday. Ladd suffered an injury on Sept. 16, but has been skating with the Islanders since Oct. 3. This past week, Ladd practiced on a line with Valtteri Filppula and Leo Komarov, signaling his likely line mates when he returns.

- The Islanders power play has scored in three straight games and is 3-for-11 (27.3%) this season.

- The Islanders penalty kill is a perfect 8-for-8 this season.

- Tanner Fritz was loaned to the Bridgeport Sound Tigers on Thursday morning. Jan Kovar was placed on unconditional waivers on Wednesday and cleared on Thursday.
- Valtteri Filppula is riding a three-game point streak (2G, 1A), while Anders Lee has goals in back to back games.

- Brock Nelson is one goal shy of 100 NHL goals.

PREDATORS NOTES:
- The Predators enter Saturday's contest on the heels of a 3-0 shutout win over the Winnipeg Jets on Thursday.

- Viktor Arvidsson leads Nashville in goals (2) and is tied with five other Predators point lead with three.

- Pekka Rinne recorded his 52nd career shutout on Thursday.

- The Predators power play is 0-for-15 to start the season. Nashville's penalty kill is 8-for-11 to start the season (72.7%).

ISLANDERS PLAYER TO WATCH: ANDERS LEE
After scoring a career-high 40 goals last season, Anders Lee has picked up right where he left off at the start of the 2018-19 campaign. Lee has netted a power-play goal in each of the past two games, scoring in typical Lee fashion around the front of the net. The Edina, MN native became the 15th captain in franchise history on Oct. 4.

PREDATORS PLAYER TO WATCH: VIKTOR ARVIDSSON
Viktor Arvidsson leads the Predators with two goals and is tied for the team lead with three points in the opening four games of the season. Arvidsson scored both of his goals this season against the Islanders last Saturday. The 25-year-old Swede has emerged as one of Nashville's top offensive threats over the past two seasons, recording 61 points in each of the past two campaigns.

So if Cizikas doesn't play who is the 4th line Center? Komarov? Dress 7 defense?

Cizikas to IR. That’s sucks. Wish Kovar would have hung on a tad longer. Would have been time to play him. Ohhh well. That Cizikas line was buzzing too.

Cizikas on IR. Bad look w the Kovar situation. This guy can never stay healthy for a stretch of time, given his style of play.

What a joke. So tired of moves like this.

Also makes me think that Seidenberg may get a contract too. Just need the space.

What C do we have in the AHL capable of playing in NHL today? None of our spare F’s play Center. That leaves redoing all 4 lines so Beauvilier moves to Center or signing someone like Gionta

Would rather they move Tito to center and bring up either Ho sang or Bellows. Gionta was washed up 3 years ago.

Isn't this like robbing Peter to pay Paul? Put a developing player, Beau, in a bottom 6 center role to put a newer developing player in a top 6 role? It's like the new set of toys makes us throw away the slightly older set of toys. Beau is still developing. Isn't it much simpler to put a bottom sixer in place of our other bottom sixer without any need to shake up Bridgeport or our other prospects?

Cizikas' IR is retro. He could potentially miss literally one game and be back on Wednesday. Yea, I wish the Kovar timing worked out a tad better or that he was on the roster instead of Johnston, but I'm not gonna pretend it was that easy and I'm gonna trust that the coaching staff thinks having him rot in the press box was not the best move for him or the team. My hunch is that they had to be committed to Kovar for the entire year to play through his transition to the big ice and they just didn't see that being the best option. Spot duty probably won't help him. If any center got hurt long term in training camp, I think he would have been on the roster.

This is one game in October. Yes, they all count the same, but everything has to be in perspective of the ultimate plan. Keep the top lines in Bridgeport playing big minutes and all situations, bring them up when we either think they are ready to stick for a while because they've earned it or because we have a real emergency (a long term injury or multiple injuries), and keep the healthy scratches as guys you only want for spot duty.

Everybody, including Gionta, knows exactly what his role is -- his existence as professional is made for this situation.

Gionta with NHL lead in goals by the end of tonight!

EDIT: Remember all of Mathews 9 goals don't count because some of them were scored off of secondary assists... Big no no, for Toronto!

Or you waive Johnson and keep Kovar. Or sign a competent Center as an extra forward. There’s options here outside of Gionta.

Have a feeling this team is gonna be rusty. Gonna need another gritty effort to salvage a point or two.

I think Komarov can also play center so I'm a bit surprised with the signing of Gionta. Anyway, good for him. But if Cizikas misses only one game, we could have gone with lines of Ladd-Filppula-Kuhnhackl and Martin-Komarov-Clutterbuck.

God forbid you criticize any move Lou or Trots makes. I don't like this move at all as Gionta sucks as i have seen him suck for a couple of years now. I also don't understand for the life of me don't get why Pulock is not on the first pp unit.
