If we can ADD Duchene without giving up Turris I would jump for joy. Duchene for Turris + White + is a lateral move imo.

Girard , pick and forward prospect is probably what would have gone to the Avs...

We don't know it was Sakic who killed it. There were rumors a while back that Turris could be traded to Colorado and Sakic was talking to his agent to discuss a deal. If the Sens were acquiring Duchene that means they were probably trying to trade Turris then too, and maybe the acquiring team, whoever they were, wanted an extension done?
This is good news for other teams wanting Duchene aka the CBJ aka thank God. Don' want to see him in another Jersy not ours or COL. Too much makes sense for those 2 teams if Duchene is still on the move. I'm sure a Milano, Nutivaara, 2nd or something could pull it through both are killing it in the boys in the games they have played.

Nashville giving us Girard with Ottawa throwing in futures was probably our best bet for a good deal at this point.
Sakic should have gotten this one done.

That's what I envision being the premise of the trade. Everybody wins. NSH gets their second centre they are after by giving up a package similar to what they've offered up for Duchene WITHOUT having to up their package to meet Sakic's insane price. Sakic gets his insane price met because OTT adds on top of NSH, and Ottawa who presumably think Duchene makes them a contender get Duchene as an upgrade on Turris.....

Just because talks have stopped doesn't mean the deal is dead. Teams have constantly circled back to us for him, I wouldn't be surprised to see an Ottawa deal to happen within the next month.

Girard and Carrier can probably be swapped. that would give the avs a good young dman, and 2 A prospects.
not getting better than that for duchene
1. Not an upgrade.
2. Turris is open to re-signing and not for big money. The issue is that Ottawa doens't want to give huge term. If someone is picking up Turris, they are re-signing him and Ottawa is, almsot certainly, going to get solid value.
