Proposal: 3-way trade, Athanasiou to St. Louis, Georgiev to Detroit

I could think Detroit is interested getting a young goaltender, but don't think Rangers have any interest for Athanasiou.

St. Louis could add a scoring winger, so how about a 3-way:


Athanasiou --> STL

STL 1st ---> NYR

Georgiev + NYR 3rd --> DET

Could include some smaller pieces pieces to even the values.

- STL pays a low Contender 1st for Athanasiou.
- Detroit pays that "contender 1st" value for Georgiev. Think 2nd was the right price, so there's the 3rd to even values.

If Athanasiou returns a STL 1st, Detroit would keep it. Why send the pick to the NYR for a goalie, who can be had for a second rounder in the summer.

You "owe us" for HOF'er Adam Oates for 1 yr. of Bernie Federko still. That was one of the worst trades of all-time. Old Federko retired, while Oates had 3 great seasons for the Blues, then traded for Craig Janney & Stephan Quintal. Janney later turned into Petr Nedved, while Quintal was packaged w/Nelson Emerson later for Doug Lidster and Esa Tikkanen. Wings probably win 2+ more cups w/Oates.

That's still irrelevant to the discussion. Every team suffers heartache. I'm glad the Blues won their cup finally, however they'd have gotten rag dolled by the '96 Avs & Patrick Roy. Do yo really think Jon Casey could've won a cup? Blues were lucky to force a gm.7 in WCSF.
