ISLANDERS NOTES:
-- Robin Lehner will make his season debut on Monday. The Swedish goalie signed a one-year deal with the Isles over the summer. Lehner sat in favor of Thomas Greiss in the first two games.
"I feel ready to play," Lehner said. "There are some things we're still working on, but it'll come in time. We're changing a few things that I've been doing my whole life. It's not an overnight thing. I feel ready. It's going to be fun."
-- After keeping the lineup intact for two straight games, the Islanders experimented with different d-combinations on Sunday. Nick Leddy and Johnny Boychuk were reunited on the back end, while Scott Mayfield skated with Thomas Hickey, meaning that Mayfield is likely to make his season debut. Luca Sbisa is expected to be out.
Lehner to start against San Jose
-- The Islanders also made a change up front on Sunday, as Tom Kuhnhackl skated in Tanner Fritz's place on the Valtteri Filppula line. Kuhnhackl will be making his Islanders debut if he plays.
-- Filppula has goals in two straight games and leads the Islanders with two this season.
-- The Islanders penalty kill is 4-for-4 to start the season, while the power play has scored in two straight games.
-- Brock Nelson (99 goals) is one shy of 100.

SHARKS PLAYER TO WATCH: ERIK KARLSSON
San Jose sent shockwaves through the NHL when they acquired Erik Karlsson from the Ottawa Senators in September. Karlsson is a two-time Norris winner and joins an already stacked blue line in San Jose that includes Norris winner Brent Burns and Marc-Edouard Vlasic.
Burns (218 points) and Karlsson (216) are the two highest-scoring defensemen in the NHL since 2015-16. Karlsson has started the season on a pairing with Vlasic, though he and Burns both man the point on the top power-play unit. Barry Trotz said his team will need to be cognizant of when Karlsson's on the ice Monday, as he acts like an extra forward.
