FYI the 64th pick belongs to the Canadiens, through the Mathieu Schneider deal.

I don't see the Rangers taking Ferraro if both Holland and Kreider are on the board. They've more partial to players in the OHL, especially in the 1st round, and they've heavily scouted Kreider.

Kreider is a high schooler with 1 year left to play, then he is going to college. You may have to wait 5-6 years before you see him. I don't think the Rangers have that time. Besides Ferraro is a better pick because he did score 37 goals in a better league, and because his dad is a former NHL'er. That's why I made that decision.

Jeremy Morin at 41 is wayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy to low...He might be the best pure scorer in this draft.

Can't see the Isles drafting Roy at 26 especially if Louis Leblanc is there.

I've also read articles that say he is very inconsistant at times. That will lead to a player dropping come draft time. I can see the Isle's taking LeBlanc at 26th and then going for a goalie at 31.

Mattson - I am not big on High Schooler's, I don't think Krieder will go very high.
Hanowski - I 've not seen any video on this kid so I don't know much about him, stats can be decieving.

FYI the 64th pick belongs to the Canadiens, through the Mathieu Schneider deal.

Didn't the Habs trade for Schiender from the Trashers?

From tsn.ca
The Atlanta Thrashers have traded defenceman Mathieu Schneider to his former team, the Montreal Canadiens.

In exchange, the Thrashers receive a second round draft pick in 2009 and a third round selection in 2010. In addition to Schneider, the Canadiens will receive a conditional draft pick from the Thrashers.

The draft pick is conditional on how far the Canadiens go in the playoffs.

If Montreal loses in the first round or doesn't make the playoffs, the Canadiens get a third-round pick from Atlanta.

If Montreal wins one round, it becomes a fourth round pick.

If Montreal wins two rounds or more, it becomes a fifth-round pick.

My point was, based upon how the Rangers have drafted, it is unlikely they will take Ferraro, especially since they have heavily scouted Kreider, and that they have partial to OHL players in the 1st round. You may think Ferraro is a better selection for the Rangers (which I happen to disagree about). What I'm saying is that Ferraro is not a player I see selecting, based upon the current drafting approach under Gordie Clark.

1st round pick - Zach Kassian
2nd round pick - Dylan Olsen
3rd round pick - Mikko Koskinen
3rd round pick - Tyson Barrie

I like it, 1st round pick may be questionable, id rather have Scott Glennie but Kassian seems good.

I'm not disagreeing with you about the OHL preference(Del Zotto, Sanguenetti, Stall)however I am saying that Ferraro has more pro potential then any OHL player left on the board. I could see them taking Peter Holland at that pick though. I don't think it will be a high schooler.

6. Phoenix - John Moore, 6.02, D: 53gp, 14g, 23a, 37pts
Never in a million years does Phoenix pick Moore here. They do not reach in this draft. It's BPA and that's Schenn, Schenn, Schenn, and Schenn. Phoenix has great depth already on defense (Ahnelov, Summers, Ross, Goncharov) to pass up an offensive prospect like Schenn. If they were going to go D at #6 Cowen is the only guy they'd consider.
20. Phoenix* from Cal - Ryan Ellis, 5.09, D: 57gp, 22g, 67a, 89pts
This makes sense. You're taking Ellis in a spot where he may be BPA. I think LeBlanc would have been a better pick, but on the Phoenix board there has been a lot of talk of Moore or Ellis here. Good pick.
36. Phoenix – Cody Eakin - 5.11, C: 54gp, 24g, 24a, 48pts
Too early for Eakin. Again, Phoenix is going to go BPA with every pick. Morin would, I think, be the BPA here. If defense was targeted Erixon, Roussel, Gelinas, or Wrenn would be the picks; if offense Morin, Tatar, Rajala, or Paradis would go before Eakin. Not a horrible pick, but better players available.

So you drafted:
Moore (D), Ellis (D) Eakin (C)

My draft would have been:
Schenn (C), Ellis (D), Morin (LW)

Guess we'll look back in 3 years and see how we did :)

That's what I said. They lost in the first round, THEREFORE they have Atlanta's third rounder.
