Important facts to remember after today’s trade.

Honestly, the reaction is almost identical to the Despres and Lovejoy trade. Although, now we have 3 cups with our core.

Let’s post our favorite memories from the past 13 years and remember that this team has been the most successful franchise of the cap era.

JR and this trade will be a footnote to the legacy of Sid and Geno.

^^^ A couple of fav memories there ^^^

In all seriousness... the dejection on Hossa’s face in 09’

Chris Kunitz making Kimmo Timonen do a full cartwheel mid-air.

Crosby getting his teeth knocked out, and deciding he was going to torture that franchise and fan base for the rest of his playing days.

Ryan Malone falling 4 times a shift.

Michel Therrien terrorizing the team.

Crosby basically telling Bylsma to go f*** himself on the bench during that one play off game.

#44 with the shift.

Eric Godard and Riley Cote going blow for blow.

Trade deadline days where you just knew Shero was going to lose his mind and acquire everyone and anyone and give up nothing of substance.

Malkin and Sykora.

Tyler Kennedy skating the puck around the right side of the net, going out from the net towards the blue line, turns on a dime and shoots - every single time he had the puck.

Ruttu’s existence.

Game 6 in 09. Was there, never experienced energy like that, and probably won’t experience again. Electric. Fan base in unison. Renegade starts playing and you can literally feel it in your heart. Those were the days. That game was the exact moment where a young core took the bull by the horns and never looked back.

It will be a footnote.

And a nail in the coffin.

But, in the spirit of the thread, I remember someone calling 'Cooking with Geno' FOOD PORN . . .

Mine is going to be the entire 2015/16 season, the transformation and the destruction of the league. You knew once they got things to click it was over, over for a Caps team that loaded up on aging depth, riding a superhot first half, then realizing they were not the best team, or that it was "Their Year."

That was a work of art.

Felt bad for San Jose, though.

Game 6 against the caps in 16 when the pens kept on shooting the puck into the stands.

They blew a big lead then dominated in ot, HBK finally scored the winning goal.

But wasn't "blew a big lead" moreso "had a ridiculous series of 5 on 3s against mostly because they kept taking Delay-of-Game penalties?" Or am I misremembering that one.

We still have Crosby, Malkin, and Letang. No matter what garbage they're surrounded with, that will be enough most years to make the playoffs at least. So there's that.

Who the **** slapshots a breakaway? A ****ing gangster *** mfer, that's who.

Not going to lie I loved the Versus broadcast in 2008 and 2009 playoffs. Baskethanging, Malkin oh my word! Razor’s commentary was always fun too.

When Beagle made that save with his stick, I just felt like we were destined to lose that game.
