There's no hockey and this was a miserable season anyhow. NBCSN is re-airing Game 6 of the 2012 final at 5 p.m. and 11 p.m. tonight. Let's have some fun and re-watch together back when things were good.

Am I wrong to suspect that younger Devils fans care way more about this game than older Devils fans?

It was cool and all, but they didnt win the cup, so this game doesnt really hold much significance in my fandom life given the 3 Stanley Cup Championships from 1995 to 2003.

I agree.

But only because we're old :(

I agree that clearly there are bigger wins that mean a lot more during my lifetime but in the past 17 years (depressing writing that) it is arguably a top 3 win.

I guess that depends on your interpretation of old. I am 34 and still love this game. Specifically winning it in OT and Docs call. I do however know this means nothing.

I said this before in another thread. I think the Marty/Elias record breaking game rivaled the cup clinching 95 game for me. The atmosphere was electric.
I was there and it was amazing. I have a shitty blackberry recording of the final few seconds on my YouTube with my wife freaking out and me yelling. Good times.

I guess I’m in the older category now. Obviously 1995, 2000, and 2003 are bigger. But 2012 was a fun run beating both the Flyers and Rangers and it was the last hurrah for the Brodeur era.

of course NBC didn’t have the rights for 95-03 so those games aren’t getting re-aired right now. I thought this would be fun with all of us cooped up for the most part

2012 playoffs was the must fun ever since the 2003 season, which like me and other younger fans did not get to experience in its full glory. So this game is the biggest and most enjoyable game for a whole generation of devils fans.. and one of the few highlights in a decade of suck

I was around for all 3 Cups, though was only 9 in 1995, but this games stands out most to me, and was the most memorable.

If anyone is 17 and under that was the peak of their fandom (2012). Hell even if you go back to the 2000 cup win you've got be like 25 to really get it and even then you'd be 5 at the time of that win. Like I said, I'm 34 and 95 I barely remember but 2000 and 2003 were the pinnacle. 2012 beating the Flyers and Rangers was close but not on that level for me least.

LOL Fedetenko, forgot he existed, and I also forgot about his tryout with the Devils near the end of his career.

Observation #2: The crowd was outstanding.

Observation #3: Part of the reason the crowd seemed outstanding was because we had R&R Part 2 instead of the generic-sounding rock Goal-song we have.

Replacing that song with something the crowd could barely participate in(if, at all) was a big mistake.

Hell, they couldn't have found a song that had the crowd clapping along with it?

It remains a sore point with me to this day and is the reason I despise Hugh Weber who was at the center of that Goal-song change to begin with.
