On another note, I saw today Neuvirth has a sparkling .897 Sv% (or therabouts) in his last half season's worth of games or something insane like that?

Related: Brian Schneider is 0-15-3 in his last 18.

Jets lose 1-0 to divisional rival Blues
Flames lose 1-0 to divisional rival Oilers and score more than the Jets.

This is gonna be a massacre.

Man those Oilers sure look good

Coaching doesn't matter though.

The longer this Hakstol situation drags on, the more pissed off I am at Hextall for letting it come to this. He let his players down and he let the fans down. He should have rectified the situation either in the summer after the massacre at the hands of the Pens or after the 10-15 game mark when it was obvious we regressed even further. Now we have to piss away even more of the season because Fletcher doesn't want to look brash.

What pissed this season away are the goaltenders. I don't remember ever seeing such bad goaltending as Pickard, Lyon and Neuvirth this season, even Mrazek last year was slightly better.

Stolarz will have three days rest, look for him to be sharp and the Flyers to make this a competitive game and even win it.
If Elliott can come back healthy, and Stolarz is for real, the Flyers can still make a run this season.

Q is not coming here this season, why would he? He can sit on the couch, see what moves Fletcher makes, whether the Flyers land a top 10 pick who can contribute by 2020-21, along with their other prospects, then decide if he wants the job, meanwhile collecting $6M. My suspicion is he'll only take this job if Stolarz finishes well and Hart looks like he's ready by next season - at his age I doubt Q wants to spend three years going through a bunch of stiffs in goal (all that's available this summer in trade and FA, Q wants a cup, so Bob's playoff record eliminates him).

It's not whether Hakstol is good or bad, it's that right now there are no viable alternatives, and Fletcher wants to evaluate the team, not just the HC, so he's not going to make any moves for a few weeks until he's decided on a course of action. Putting Gordon or Knob in there right now would just complicate matters for him.

Considering Hakstol has pissed away seasons with above average goaltending, nah, it's safe to say Hakstol pissed the season away. Especially since he hasn't corrected a single one of his flaws or added any strengths.

Hakstol is a dreadful failure. It's not about the alternatives at this point, it's about whether years of failure is acceptable. You obviously think it is.

An interim is better solely for not being Hakstol. Solely for signalling something new will be happening. For signalling failure isn't embraced.
