Most of the reason the 3rd line is bad is because of Kakko. Adding him to a good line only makes us worse

I don't buy that. As soon as he touches the puck he's swarmed, he's not strong/crafty enough yet to maintain possession in those situations. He has nobody to possess the puck and let him get into space, Howden certainly can't do anything offensively and Lemieux doesn't play that kind of game. You're being hard on him for not being Panarin and doing it all himself. Theres no shame in letting someone else do the heavy lifting on his line while he gets into a groove and figures it out at 18.

Buch is not the guy I want. You need someone who will shoot or is a threat to shoot.

Kakko was filling that role but he hasn't been the same since he missed 2 games
Buchnevich actually has a few more shot attempts on the PP than Kakko. Kakko always goes for that backdoor shot-pass. But I wouldn’t complain with either there.

Not being hard on him at all, he is gonna be a good player but putting him in a spot that will further frustrate him isnt a good idea. Right now he can fly under the radar a bit, if he joins the top 6 his current problems will be magnified. The real issue is that Kakko has a hard time in his own end getting the puck out cleanly along the wall. That isnt going to change on another line and it's one of the main reasons the 3rd line gets hemmed in so much. He needs to work on his game and get in the top 6 when he is ready. When he does the 3rd line will be better too as their exits will be better with Fast.

Definitely felt as though they pissed a point away.

Little bit of a dry spell again for Kakko, and despite a point it was I thought Panarins most ineffectual game with the Rangers so far.

RE: PP1 makeup.

Here are the 5v4 stats so far for the PP1 (defined by Panarin being on the ice) split between the three PPQBs:

Fox has the highest point scoring rate on the PP1 (8.73), while DeAngelo has the highest overall PP scoring rate (6.37).

and again, right on the money.

exactly.

good teams, even rebuilding ones, needs to slam the door shut when they have the chance.

5 on 3 and a 4 min and we get zilch. cant happen.

we needed to make it 3-0. we didn't. we lost.

too many here too willing to take a point.

we lost a point imo.

It's kind of like last year we were working our way from bad to mediocre and this year it's from mediocre to average but we've added in a lot more kids and there's a learning that comes with that so there is progress IMO and we had arguably the best team in the league (sans Bergeron) on their heels for over the first half of the game. That's a positive. The announcers made an issue over the fight and maybe it did light a fire under the Bruins a bit but we really needed to do something on the power play and we didn't attack hard enough and didn't retrieve pucks well enough and didn't take shots. To me that's where the game got away from us.

Is it me, or does Kakko seem like he can't recieve a pass?

It seems often that whrn he recieves a pass the puck always goes skipping away from him uncontrolably whuch causes him to try and recover.

They played aggressively in the neutral zone and defensive zone for large parts of this game. Defenders were stepping up and forcing turnovers at the red line and blue line, players were attacking the points. Nice to see. Boston looked tired but still.

For his cowardly neck work on 93, I’m rooting for Grzelyck to get a hospital room in his near future. AHL journeyman f-hole.

Wasted a good amount of PP time with stupid lineups. Had Panarin on his off wing and Strome on the left wall at times... just silly.

Overall can’t be too upset with a point in Boston against the Bruins but it was winnable.

Imagine thinking that McAvoy getting his head bounced around like a basketball is the reason the Bruins won.

Like, I could maybe buy it if it was a competitive fight.

Winning and losing fights has nothing to do with teams getting momentum from them.

Imagine being a hockey fan for at least 8 years and not understanding this.

Quinn will figure it out eventually while he costs us opportunities but eventually he’ll figure this pp out and put a lefty on.

we win tomorrow and it’s a great weekend

Just wanted a different look on the PP, that's what AV would've said.

Did Fighting Have a Measurable Impact on Ranger Games Last Year? - Blueshirts Breakaway

"Long story short, while the Rangers and their opponents may have gained an advantage in a couple of games spread across the long season and post season, in aggregate fighting did not have any consistent, measurable impact on the games the Rangers played."

A point is a point. They did the same thing to the Wild a few games ago. This is the modern NHL you're going to come back and be come back on a few times a season. And OT is a coinflip. It was much more entertaining than the usual post-Thanksgiving Rangers affair were the tryptophan runs wild.

They get to do it again in less than 24 and owe the Devils some payback from last time.

As Bart Simpson would say, don't have a cow.
