Bob Mckenzie on 1260 today said Perron is "as good as gone" as Mac T is shopping him plus for centre help. Also said Eakins is going nowhere.

What a joke. Of all our forwards, Perron is one of the few that actually knows how to play the NHL game. He's struggled this year scoring, but he plays hard, goes to the tough spots, and plays in all zones. He's the last winger that should be dealt.

If true, another bonehead move by our mgmt.

Perron has been terrible in every facet of the game this year and if he is not scoring he is just another small ineffective winger. He certainly is not worse than most of the rest of the team but he's no better either.

Yes, but he was critical of the team and the coaching... this is simply not allowed.

It has been quite apparent for some time that being critical is not allowed when its criticism leveled against the 'empire.' The media in Edmonton know this, they know that only 'Oilerspeak' is allowed. And the fans have learned it, many have witnessed people being ushered out of the arena for being critical. Empty seats remain where once a fan dared chant something as truthful as "Lowe must go!"

Its funny isnt it? Nobody in the top 6 is lighting it up these days but Perron is one of the few top 6 forwards that plays with heart and grit and he gets shuttled out the door. Only because this org is too scared to deal a core player.

When will management realize that the core players are a major part of the problem? Probably never.

Worst part is this comes days after he criticized the team. The arrogance and ego is palpable in upper management.

Perron has had a rough year no doubt, but who the hell hasn't? He's the only winger that brings something different to the forward mix other than soft perimeter skill. No one has the pest like qualities he does or goes to the front of the net.

We are not in a position of strength to deal a player like Perron right now, the desperation is too obvious. Why would team's throw us a bone when it's just as easy to watch us fail? That's why your trade chips need to be someone from the beloved core. You have to offer someone they can't say no to, and would be forced give up value in return. Eberle, Schultz, Yakupov these names need to be on the block.

10/10 we pull in Brayden Schenn for Perron+ and get some schpiel about how yet another former top 5 pick who's had an average career fits with the young core and will thrive here. This core has taken us nowhere but new rock bottoms, and management is ****ing blind to it.

The mix of our top 6 is too homogeneous up front as it is, and it won't be much different if Perron is the one out, even if the player coming back has some of those qualities. One step back, one step forward. 30th, 30th, 29th, 24th, 28th, 29th... and round and round we go.
