It's going to be tough with Savoie and Benson not having a top end linemate for the Sabres to draft...

I wouldn't mind seeing sanjose getting a top pick

Yeah, I would rather they get in on those guys than say... Chicago again. I'd also assume the Ducks are still going to be growing into their game with younger defensemen, as well as whatever teams have a lot of injuries. Probably the Habs too even if they are relatively healthy.

How is the 2024 class looking overall? Seems like we knew well in advance 2023 was looking like a strong and deep class, 2022 maybe a little less so. Is 2024 looking more like 2012, 2015, or somewhere in the middle?

At the moment, it isn't the hype level that Bedard had, though if Celebrini was in the CHL, I think it would be louder. From personal experience, the chatter seems more like say the Hall-Seguin debate year with Celebrini-vs.-Eiserman. At the moment, it looks like a bigger group in the early rankings in terms of height and also a lot more defensemen though at this point last year there were defensemen being chatted about who stumbled hard *cough*Allen*cough*. Jiricek's little brother is another good sized RD in the mix right now. So too is the big Belarussian kid Artyom Levshunov in Green Bay of the USHL - also RD, also good sized.

In a similar way to this year, there is also a Russian factor in the top of the draft in Demidov who could be in the mix for that top spot as well. Chernyshov has some contact-driven game and good size, he'll be in the mix but again, will teams put the effort in to get eyes on the player and interviews via their network and does him having a KHL deal through 2025 give some pause.

Then there is London's 16-year old Sam Dickinson who is 6'3" and likely to grow more. Big centers who can play always get interest, we just saw two go 2nd and 3rd in this draft.

Celebrini is definitely ahead of the pack for 1st overall talk after his U18's where he outplayed all the 2023 canada guys.

Eiserman and Kiviharju will definitely challenge.

This draft needs some good D-0 performances (which every draft gets), because right now, the draft is definitely on the weaker side.

Which is good if you're a team who needs to make the playoffs, and trading a 1st would help secure it.

Chicago is gonna get celebrini or eiserman aren't they
They should have gotten a first rounder taken away. If they end up with Bedard and Celebrini I may have to take a timeout as a Vancouver fella. Our team is an eyesore while they just pile up assets. Turn the Chiefs head the other way permanently. We get dinged for years on the cap for signing an overrated goalie to a contract the league rubber stamped. But Chicago can do what they want.

But anyways you guys have a good looking young team. Expansion cousins. I wanted Benson for Vancouver but at some point we need to rebuild what was a strong blueline for 20 years.

Make the playoffs! Good luck.

17. Buffalo Sabres: Michael Hage, C, Chicago-USHL

Hage missed most of the season due to injury, but when healthy he looked very good in the USHL. He has excellent skill to go with a strong skating stride. He’s able to make tough offensive plays with pace and is a natural scorer. I’d have liked to see more games out of him, but given what I did see I’m comfortable rating him as a top prospect.

The Chicago Steel to Michigan pipeline has worked once for the Sabres...

Good write-up, but Dickinson is a D.
