Cool inside poll about the poll: name the 5 guys each that you think are at least 5 ranks too high or too low.

Too high by at least 5 ranks in my opinion:
Lane Hutson
Filip Mesar
William Trudeau
Luke Tuch
Jan Mysak

Too low by at least 5 ranks in my opinion:
Lucas Condotta
Filip Eriksson
Cedric Guindon
Jared Davidson
Oliver Kapanen

I agree with Baseball Coach so I'll give you my reasoning.

1) Size is not everything but a 5'9" defenceman will have some issues in the NHL even if the rest of my points are wrong.
2) Hutson is easily beaten when opposing players go wide on him. He has trouble pivoting and covering them.
3) Backward skating needs a hell of a lot of improvement.
4) His dipsy doodles will not be as effective against NHLers.

This is not to say he won't make the NHL (although I'm not 100% sold he'll make it). It's to say he is not our best prospect.

As an example, in the NHL, Matheson's skating advantage is in my opinion way more effective for beating both defenders and forecheckers than the shoulder fakes that Hutson and a few others guys are good at.

If Hutson's realistic potential is not first pair D but even if just 4th D, then he is probably not one of our top 5 prospects.

I obviously don't know enough about Condotta. At 24 and low scoring in the AHL what makes him a good prospect? Is he close to being and NHL 4th liner?

Decent size, responsible defensively, won't hurt you playing on a 4th line but won't really be a benefit either.
