I compiled a list of possible players that have a chance at next years team.

Overall, I don’t know what to think of the roster, if Drysdale is back i like the defence, having a returning goalie in Garland is always a positive and the forwards look pretty good. Obviously Canada always has a chance at gold but without seeing a lot of the 02’s and 03’s play this year, it makes it difficult to evaluate where they’re at.

Forwards:
*Quinton Byfield
Cole Perfetti
Hendrix Lapierre

Jean-Luc Foudy
Jacob Perreault
Dylan Guenther
Tyson Foerster
Seth Jarvis
Will Cuylle

Very good chance we see some of these guys in the NHL but until I know for sure, I will include them. This is a different season to project with a most guys not having played to this point it makes it way more difficult.. at any rate, this is what I’d send.

Johnson- Wright- Guenther
Neighbours- Lapierre- Foerster
Greig- Bourque- Wiesblatt
Sillinger, Perreault

Power- Drysdale

Mcdavid didnt even get a sniff when he was 16. Bedard wont be there.

What do you mean he didn't get a sniff? He made the team as a 16 year old. 2014 Malmo, Sweden tournament. Didn't play well. team didn't play well.

I think the only underager (* edit. double underager) who makes it next year is Shane Wright. he turned 17 yesterday. technically 18 year olds are underagers as well.

That top D pairing looks fantastic. Second pair could be pretty fun too. Would be nice to see Perfetti and Byfield light the tournament on fire and Wright to make his mark.

A much weaker team than this year's. I don't know they make the Final.

Not sure Canada makes the medal round honestly.

Not sure Canada makes the medal round honestly.

It's possible they get knocked out earlier for sure. They'll have to play faultless defense to reach even the Gold Medal Game, though they have the horses on the blueline and in net to do it. That's also why I went with fast, defensively responsible players like Desnoyers and Foudy over sexier options up front because the team identity will have to be built around that. A lot will of course depend on their group though, and having to play a Finland early could be a death knell to their medal hopes.

The fewer games the players play this year the more question marks there are, obviously. If the team gets Drysdale that would be huge. Could definitely see it being an 18 year old heavy roster.

While the team likely won't be as strong, I feel many of the players are being underrated simply because they haven't played much (or any) games this season. Many of the 02's would be lighting it up in the CHL and we might have a more positive outlook on this team

This.
A lot of the 19 year olds on next years team we’re evaluating them from when they were 17 year olds, so it isn’t clear how much they’ve developed.

Should be another deep team as usual and really deep on defense especially if Drysdale is back. Won't have 1 big forward line but more balanced attack. Sucks can't see the progression of players so tougher to predict right now but early roster for me would look like

Perfetti-Lapierre-Guenther
Sillinger-Wright-Johnson
Neighbours-Greig-Jarvis
McTavish-Bourque-Weisblatt
Korczak/Perreault

Guhle-Drysdale
Lambos-Clarke
Power-Ceulemans
Poirier/O'Rourke

Garand
Cossa

While the 2003 crop is really good I don't see why there would be more than usual. There is still a lot of 2002 who are shoe-ins for spots even without Byfield and Drysdale.

Lambos, Clarke and Guenther are basically 100% on the team but the rest will have t o fight it out.

Up front Byfield, Perfetti, Johnson, Lapierre, Jarvis, Bourque and Wright (2004) make-up more than half the forwards so the 2003 will have to fight with Perreault, Greig, Foerster, Wiesblatt, Savoie, Neighbours, Bourgault
