I think Mesar do 100 pts in the CHL this year.

Mesar, add Ylonen
I think both options should be seriously considered, but AHL has some appealing aspects for Mesar. He’s been playing vs men for the past 2 seasons already. His skating and skills are already top-notch. The only real area of growth are his size, strength and perhaps, shot.

That was my approach too but I think if he wants to learn the NA game he is better with a year dominating and show his offensive abilities in the OHL, then he could come in the playoffs and we will see where he is at. We can afford to take out time with him

Can't believe Primeau getting no recognition after playoff he just had for Laval
What are the chances he's a top 15 goalie in the NHL?

That's what you want in a high end prospect. Back up goalies and lower tier starters are easy to find in trades and free agency.

Prineaucpro baby doesn't make my top 15, maybe even 20.

You must feel better now that Mesar is going before Hutson. :D

Definitely!

I still have him a number of spots lower but will be able to plug my nose and swallow it if both Beck and Harris get in before him as well.

Hutson is so much fun to watch though, he moves and handles the puck alot like Mitch Marner. Just hope he grows a little more and can add some serious muscle to that tiny frame.

Well, if we believe his doctors, he will grow a bit more which factors in how I ranked him.

I am not sure how much stock I would put in a single privately procured endocrinologist's report. It is just one opinion that only provides a possibility but certainly does not with any certainty whatsoever predict significant growth if any at all.

If he grows then I bump him up my rankings next season, we don't have endocrinologist reports from other players who may still have growth plates so why assume that they do not. There is a reason that he spent money on an endocrinologist and other players did not and that is because he needs to grow to likely have any chance at all.

As it is now he is easily the worst defender among dmen rated to go in the first half of the draft. It isn't just his size, he struggles pivoting while backskating and does not have good straight ahead speed or backskating speed. He is entirely ineffective with his body and is too short to effectively occupy passing lanes with his stick. I challenge you to watch more of his game than just the offensive wizardry that we all love. He really looks bad at times in his own end and it happens far too frequently.

All of this said, he does have elite hands, vision, creativity and lateral agility and was worth the gamble at 62 based on the possibility of a growth spurt. I am cheering for him as much as anyone but putting him ahead of some of our other prospects at this precise point in time is ridiculous imo. I am not sure where exactly I would rank him but definitely outside of our top ten and I strongly suspect that most pro scouts would agree with that.

Maybe, but he's far from the worst defenceman to go in the first half of the draft, and those are two different things. He's got a problem to solve, but I don't think it's ridiculous to rank him ahead of quite many of our prospects. Josiah Didiers, Brett Lernouts, Niklas Kobersteins and Darren Dietzs bust too, but not one of them had upside anything like Hutson.

None of Didiers, Lernout, Koberstein or Dietz were ever top prospects. Dietz did get some hype on this board due to offensive numbers and a willingness to fight but he is a poor skater and was not highly regarded outside of this board.

Hutson is definitely a better prospect than many of our prospects but he does not have a place in our top ten just yet. That may change and I hope it does but he struggles mightily at times in his own end right now and will need to get bigger and stronger to even have a chance in the NHL.

Hughes and MSL are both creative thinkers so maybe they envision Hutson as a 7th D pp specialist in a lineup with 11 forwards where he can also take shifts on the wing or on defence with exclusive o zone starts. Admittedly this possibility provides a plausible reason for me to bump him up a little but it is probably too speculative to factor into my rankings at this point in time.
