BBQ cover flown off and clinging to the fence

Thanks to this post I just stopped mine from flying somewhere DT.. It was holding on by only one velcro strap, had come completely off. A couple of my plastic shovels sitting on the deck had flown 10 feet. Garbage day tomorrow. Plastic lids (not ours) flying around in the wind like huge frisbees. Garbages toppled, bags around back alley. (not ours, I built an enclosed garbage receptacle complete with latched gate because, well, we live on the prairies, this happens. judging from the neighbors theyve never realized this fact despite living on the same block for over 20years. The apparent thought of most being "If my garbage flies around, it flies around" I'm not judging...

But they should make barbecue covers better than this. just friggen velcro fasteners..Its like planned obsolescence. They could install a parachute on these to make them fly away even better..

Hope nobody still has Xmas decorations and inflatables out still. Because you don't now..

We had a wind storm at our cabin a few years ago, and were stuck out on the water on our boat. Family was shitting bricks, but I had to do the dad thing and tune out all the screaming. My lasting memory is seeing dozens of blow up mattresses, tubes, etc flying over our heads.

I'm at the age where I'm going thru posterior vitreous detachment in my one eye (it's normal as you age), and I see light flashes all the time. ;)

Oh man, I hope it isn’t too bad, is it mostly just an annoyance?

First couple of days was really weird, you're not sure exactly what you are seeing. Went to the eye doctor, and he did all the tests, and showed me exactly what was going on, said it was no big deal, so after that you just sort of forget about it. Only notice it when it is dark and I turn my eye to the side. I guess once it's done it's thing you can end up with an annoying floater, so that could be worse than the flashes. Guess we'll see.

I've never seen anything like that last night. I have a couple of shingles flapping and I see other houses on my street missing some shingles and flashing coming off.
