For me, this has to be one of the weakest Team Russia since the times of Maxim Sokolov and Igor Podomatsky.

Thanks, but a which one? The older one was a prime suspect first, and then i heard a story that the younger one was a suspect. And then the whole news story went away. Very sad case anyway.

I assume you speak russian, as you know this story:

Следователи установили настоящего убийцу жены российского хоккеиста Соколова: Следствие и суд: Силовые структуры: Lenta.ru

I didn't see Team Russians EHT games. What kind of PP1 and PP2 units were against Finland and Sweden? Thanks for answers :)

Over recent years, lineups like the one above have created interest in the WC in the most surprising of all places - Canada. They simply see an easy kill and a chance to wave the flag while flashing the Gold Medals around their necks. It is always possible that Sweden or Finland could put together good teams, but for Russia, Russian NHL players are becoming incredibly creative in thinking of a million plus reasons why they can't represent their (maybe former) country!

Well if anything, Russian stars were always more willing to play in the WC than those from any other country. It's just that at the same time, Swedes and Finns have done with more. Only times Russia has won was with absolutely stacked teams.

Also Russia should have realized earlier that developing defensemen that could do more than defend against the rush or stand in front of a goal is a good idea. As is having more than one rightie on the team.

But I mean this is all old news, it's just kinda laughable to blame Russian stars for anything in comparison to those on the other teams.

Well if anything, Russian stars were always more willing to play in the WC than those from any other country.

Not the 1990s generation. They were notorious for refusing not only WC but even best-on-best tournaments.

Granted in some cases there might have been a legit reason (Khabibulin and post-defection players) but there was also a long list of players that just didn't go.
