This is the roster going to the Karjala Cup instead of the senior team. They are going to play against men probably. No better opportunity to prove you belong.

No Nikishin? Also, no Nikolayev is kinda surprising, but these days you have to be at least in the VHL to actually have a chance to make WJC team.

Most surprising name in the roster is Shekhovtsov. Maybe Bardakov. And Kostenko.

Nikishin has just returned to game action couple of weeks ago, so maybe they decided he better stays with Spartak for now, similar situation with Nikolayev - he has just been called up to the VHL. Surprised there is no Bychkov though, he is getting big minuttes in the VHL now.

Not happening. Other countries won't allow it. It's either the men's team or no participation.
LOL It does not work that way. The FHR is obliged to send a team to the tournament. The roster is theirs to choose. They can send the worst VHL team if they like. Would be Russia's problem too then. Age is not a requirement. Most of those players play men's hockey anyway by now. What would "other countries" hold against such a roster? It's not like EHT rosters are ever the best players available.

And for the record. It is official. They are going. Live with it.

It's not. Jukka Jalonen said today that Finnish, Swedish and Czech hockey associations are sending an official notice to the Russian counterpart that it's not happening: Jukka Jalonen kritisoi Venäjän EHT-päätöstä ja penäsi vastuullisuutta – myös JYPin ratkaisut ihmetyttivät leijonaluotsia This is a men's tournament and you can't play a U-20 team.

Well, The Finns at it again. Then f... 'em. Russia should not send a team and they can play without us. They need to grow up already. Sorry bunch of "europeans".

So, if you can include like 2, 3, 4 etc. U-20 palyers into your roster, what is the problem if you want to include 23 U20 players? I don't see anything illegal here.

Well, I kinda understand them. If you beat an U20 team, it'll be taken as a given, and if you lose to it, a shitstorm will happen, but with all U20 tournaments canceled, what have we else to do?

I will politely explain it to you. A certain poster hates Russia, so he is spreading this nonsense on the internet.

Two questions. Where is the document with the rule? Could you please provide an official definition of the senior team? All the players are from men’s leagues KHL and VHL
Just listening to Mr Zaruba (the best and most informed hockey journalist in the Czech rep) saying as follows, there is no agreement in place between hockey federations of Czech/Finland/Sweden/Russia regarding the Euro Hockey Tour for 2020-21. So, that poster can not give you the document.

It was mentioned in Finnish medias and Team Finland coach Jukka Jalonen. I don' think the rules are available online.

Just in case, 4 days until the start of the Karjala Cup and so far there is no sign of roster changes or cancellation of these games. Even more, there are reports of some players leaving for the camp today and the games are scheduled to be televised.

A message from Larionov. If your club/league is not playing this season, you are not invited to RUS NT U20 camp for WJC. He used Matvei Guskov as an example, but it is not only about him.
